Well folks here's my sad story. Yea they got Done today Well, not exactly.... my intake air hose had a small split in it and they couldn't source the correct size locally 5 1/2 inch so the got a six inch and made adapters to make it work. Oh did I mention my bill was $2787 after they were kind enough to cut the labor from $135 a hour to $120. My tail hurts! To add insult to injury after leaving the shop going east bound on 90 I realized I wasn't making enough power to pull a wet string out of a chickens a$$. After 22 miles turned around and now back a IState waiting for them to open in the morning. Seems that air tube they made up kinked near the turbo and the kink also interferes with the air throttle and now it's leaking air and not fully opening..... so, the fun continues

how much of that was parts ?

Bummer,I was hoping for a smaller bill for you, I don't say much about Interstate some people like Interstate.

They got me in ND $8100.00 for a head gasket and 1 liner kit on a 8v92 the parts were less than a $800.00

Yea never liked dealing with dealers. The labor alone was $2280. I'd say Your $8100 bill was an even bigger bath then I just got. OUCH!

how do you get 2280$...a 10 hour day is 1200$...
Are you saying they paid 2 people....

back in my days at a DD dealer, a complete rebuild was 46-48 hours...that included hot tank, steam, gasket scraping pressure test the heads, and dyno...

the only hourly charge outs were for field work.

I don't doubt  the 19 hrs in a bus there is more too it than just removing the blower and replacing a gasket.I was figuring 10 hrs but I wasn't there to see what all had to be removed but it sounds like a lot ? what model and make is the bus

It's a 63 Flexible new look city bus. 6v92 Silver with blower and turbo. Plenty of room to get blower off and never even needed to use the inside accsess panel in the back. It's a T-Drive

How did you reach $500.00 in parts that is a lot

Wife's put the bill somewhere but, they charged me $95 something for the gasket set plus $120 something for oil plus filter and then $80 something for the air intake hose they used plus I can't remember how much for the adapters to make it work. By the way that made upper intake hose is the source of my low power problem cause it kinked right in front of the turbo and also was hitting the throttle lever stopping it about half open. They are redoing that now

Finally all is back to normal. Larry is a good mechanic but, Interstate not on my favorites list. Tried to charge me another $379 dollars for making up another intake air pipe. I told them I already paid to much and they backed off and just dropped it down to parts so, $64 extra was all. I'm good with that cause I know have a custom made stainless air pipe with very short rubber on each end that looks good and will last a long time

If it weren't for bad luck now the fan miter box started leaking and tried to sieze up. Burnt both belts tell the broke. I can turn it by hand with the fan blades so going to take the side cover off that appears to be leaking and make a gasket put it back together, fill it with 90 wt. And pray

Well, we all enjoy them until something like this hits you in the butt. Everything on all of them seems to be like Gold.

Good luck Bubba and hope it quits giving you fits and starts paying you back with enjoyment.
