Bussin' 2011 Update

What are the temperatures typically like during Bussin'?  Will I need to run my A/C a lot?

I'm debating generator only versus paying for electric.  I can run the generator 8 hours for about $14.  My bus is set up for boondocking and everything runs off the inverter except the hot water and A/C.

I need to get my registration in soon to beat the Dec 1 deadline.

  50 Amp are tentatively all gone (unless someone does not show up). We do have a few 20 amp & water, or we can start a waiting list for 50 amp.  Jack

Thanks Jack! I can adjust my power requirements to get by with 20 amps  Shoot, with 20 amps i might turn on some lights!

I guess if all the 50 amp spaces are gone that makes my decision for me.  20 amp simply isn't worth $25 a day even though it would power about everything except my A/C units.

   I am sorry you will not be joining us.  I agree that 20 amp & water should not be as much as 50 amp, water, & sewer. However, this is a County operated facility asnd they set the camping rates.   We merely collect the fees for them.  Jack

From what I gather from reading, it appears that it didn't take a whole lot to convince Brian NOT to bring his bus especially when he had figured in the cost almost down to the dollar what it would cost to run his generator!

You know, a long long time ago a fellow bus nut told me directly ans on this board that if I was having to worry about what fuel cost was gonna be, maitenence on the bus, tires, etc etc etc, then a bus wasn't for me. That made me open my eyes and make a decision right then and there.
One thing I Refuse to own is a 100k yard Knome!

I didn't mean I wouldn't be joining you.  I simply meant I would go for a generator spot instead of an electric spot.  If the temps were warm enough to need A/C I would have liked to have a 50 amp spot, but no need if I likely won't need A/C.  The decision on electric versus generator was made for me anyhow when you ran out of electric sites.

I am absolutely planning on coming to Bussin' 2011.  I'll try to get my registration mailed tomorrow.  I have one minor thing to fix on the bus and it'll be ready to go to Bussin' 2011.

With regard to high end bus conversions, I would probably agree that if someone had enough financial capacity to own it in the first place, they can probably afford the fuel and other travel expenses.  But there are many, if not the majority of, bus nuts that do have to watch the dollars and make their travel plans accordingly, even among those that have really nicely done conversions.  And there are a few like me that have a modest or minimal conversion and have to watch every penny and stay parked when they can't afford to travel.  In the current economy I suspect there are many more dollar watchers and penny pinchers that used to be in the "travel at will" category.
