IMHO if we the human race would have jumped on this newest pandemic from the very beginning without hesitation from political fallout and did it like all our lives depended on it - we all globally would have been out of the woods or at least heading out of the woods by now. We dilly dallied & worried about our freedoms while this non selective beasty has had plenty of time to spread globally and metamorphized with variants & probably right around the corner full fledged mutations. Woe to us the highest of the food chain to think we are the superior race. Best thing about us are our buses & each other. Rant over carry on...

Two weeks. We could have been done with all this crap in two weeks. Still could. But that'll never happen.

Has anyone ever stop to think how the CV-19 could break out all over the world in the same time frame ? I have, some countries you would need to back pack in so travel didn't spread it

One thing I remember. We live near Penn State University which hosts many international students. In fall 2019 noticed several of the Chinese students wearing face masks when we were in local Walmart. Didn't think much about it  till recently. Connection or just trying to avoid normal flus or colds? Who knows.

Lots of masks were worn in Asian countries before Covid-19 was even thought about. They've battled with other illness and viruses prior to this and it was not at all uncommon.

Asian Orientals are notorious for wearing face masks. Guess they're used to these type of viruses. They eat any & everything in their country & the world.
The Chinese live wet meat markets are a sight to behold. IMO these viruses have been around since the beginning of time the one thing getting exponentially different is mass population of not just humans but the mixture of humans & animals together in a world that mixes these living creatures & the viruses they carry faster than our beauty of beasts suck air through their radiators - thus creating pandemics. What really scares the hell out of me is when I read $#!% that says this particular pandemic is just the tip of an iceberg for what could happen thus science needs to be able to do what they do best (AKA effective vaccines) and for surely KEEP IT SEPARATE FROM POLITICS.  :o

The problem is the anti science movement that has taken on by the anti intellectuals, we all benefit from science discoveries., inventors, and creative people..

I talk to a decent number of international folks online and almost all of them are appalled at Americans reasoning for refusing even the most basic precautions. Americans have lauded about how much they would do for their country until they are asked to put a tiny piece of cloth across their face to keep grandma alive. In Asian countries it is considered rude to go out without a mask if you are experiencing ANY respiratory effects whether they are allergies or a cold or if your family member has a cold. In areas of high population density it is almost required to not be sick all the time. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who has noticed that I haven't caught anything all winter which is pretty nice to say the least. I hope once this is all over the idea that you should cover your nose and mouth when sick will stick with us.

It is pretty sad to see how many Americans value their own comfort over the public health of their country.

Problem is no one knows how many or what type mask to wear.it take a very special mask for a virus that only a special micro scope can detect,I think it spread by contact myself and not air born

For the most part, any mask is better than no mask. The standard-issue surgical mask is a great place to start. Most of us probably have a few N95 masks sitting around our shops unused from some project we did - they are commonly sold as dust masks and were widely available before Covid.

OK the internet is the greatest thing since slice bread (hey that was discontinued during WWII to the great constellation of house wife's and grandma became very valuable because she knew how to slice bread).

However it allows the crazies to have a self reinforcing audience, where before at the local bar someone would tell X Waco your nuts; they now can reach out to other anonymous people with the same bent/distorted view point (basically) for validation. I.E. We have lost herd immunity to the Waco's out there.

The thing with masks is they do not filter virus's, its that the virus's are transported in water droplets that we exhale, which the masks absorb.

Note basically no body worries about surface transfer's anymore.

On the inverse side medical discoveries used to be printed up and hand delivered for review, now sending it in for review is just a click away.

Hey maybe we need viewpoint anonymous, hosted at the local bar or social club before you can post?

Yeah. I've been reading Donald Westlake lately (Dortmunder) and his "regulars" at the bar completely remind me of going online. Are people really that intentionally stupid? Based on my own extensive bar experience, yeah. They are. Pretty much exactly. It sorta takes a concerted effort but as a group we can be pretty creative about it. So why wouldn't that apply to something that Nobody wants to do? Who IS this Nobody anyway, and how did he take over local programming?
