Good luck on the Alaska trip. Would like to see how that pans out. We more or less scraped our Alaska plans for this year. We like to leave in mid April to get a jump on the season.

It does look like the border is closed for discretionary travel, and I'd guess it will be for a while longer. You might have a pathway through Dan, if your place in Alaska is considered a residence. Having a residence in Alaska is one of the ways you can get permission to transit through Canada right now, but I'd think you'd have to get pre-approval before making the attempt.

Tok AK could be considered a residence as long as the bus is on it so technically yes we're dual residence but so are lots of Canadians that didn't travel this winter season. We like total freedom when doing a trip of that magnitude from FL at $10 thou. price tag. We have a growing urge to spend more time in Canada, specifically Yukon T. But with even partial Covid restrictions the trip just isn't what it could/should be

Friends who live in AK were turned around in their bus at the Canadian border in September when they wanted to come South.

I drove trucks to Haines Junction YT from southern BC two years ago. Beautiful country. I would like to go back with the bus. You would need to take 2 to 3 months to make it worthwhile. This summer might be too soon to enjoy fully.

We can get the vaccine easy,we decided not to take it lol only time I had the flu was when I took the flu shot (twice) so we will wait and see how the vaccine works before rolling up our sleeves

Darn Dan, me knowing  Saskatoon is a mandatory stop for anyone going to Alaska.
I was hoping to maybe "convoy" with you guys in one of the buses on your next trip to Tok.

I was also thinking of asking if I could leave the bus in ToK  :)

Maybe my dual citzenship papers will allow me a free pass to cross borders. :)

JC!
And that's from Alberta! Or even the west coast of Canada or even the western lower 48... Try doing it from the opposite corner! Like Florida. For us 2 to 3 months would feel like a waste! We'd done it twice now - 1st trip was 4 months 2nd trip was almost 5-1/2 months! At 10 to 12 grand minimum we feel like we got to squeeze every day & hour out of a trip like that... Just saying.
You're spot on in saying - "This summer may be too soon to enjoy."
Unfortunately... :(

Hey Paul
Convoying would be great - we know how to do that now, don't we?  :)
If I said yes on leaving "a" bus in Tok heck there would have already been a 4104 from Happy Valley AK offered to us parked in Tok for residency.  ;)
I'm certain "residency" denotes more than a bus "parked" somewhere. It also entails documentation like Deed, utility bills, references, etc. Been doing homework on that already. Bottom line is if that border patrol officer questioning you at entry has a bad day - not even all the formal documentation will get you through.  :-\
We were really looking forward to passing through Pembina soon so we could maybe dust off our antlers! ;)

hopefully, there will be changes before May. After millions of doses administered and the pressing issues of curtailed tax receipts should encourage to relax restrictions sooner rather than later.
Wait till the income tax forms start rolling in and our politicians realize how much tax revenue comes up even shorter than they can comprehend.

If your going to cross the border into Canada do some research first to find out "what the border officials" want to hear and then ensure you comply.
From my understanding they want to know that you are heading straight to Alaska. No stopping to visit friends in Sask.Alta etc. Then once you are in Canada do as you please. The secret is to "KNOW" beforehand what they WANT to hear.

I wouldn't go as far to think that. Your movements are on a time clock. In, out, & during. We have a couple experiences ourselves and also know of many people we've met that move annually in & out of AK - CA - 48 States.
Knowledge & to say the right things helps but not a cure all for auto pilot to anywhere when your in (or out) IOHO...
