Prices on 2 stroke conversions seem to hold steady over the past 7 years I have been involved. For an informed buyer, it seems any negative based on engine 2 vs 4 stroke is pretty well baked into pricing.

It only gets more difficult to gets parts and service but it seems it'll continue on a slow fade or maybe we are at the flat line for these old beasts. Not going to bet on any increases coming our way. lol

And these older coaches with DD have HOW many miles, rebuilds, abuse... Time will see how well 4 strokes hold up.

The series 60 would run longer without rebuilds than 4 rebuilds on the 2 cycles DD,and series 60 had its share of trouble in the early years. There is old saying the 2 cycles never died a natural death they were murdered by owners lot of truth to that saying,I have seen my share of torture before being murdered by owners

Are they really going after Series 60 in CA? I know the big switchover pretty much killed two strokes but I thought it also made the series 60 get converted or be gone by now and all remaining are compliant. But that of course assumes new tighter regs don't come down on those motors too. Like the 102D are popular for busnuts, are those heading to the grave?

CARB banned the series 60 in Jan 2023 in anything weighing over 14,000 lbs, 2010 was the last year the series 60 was produced. The series 60 still remains so popular in the other 49 states Detroit still supports parts and service for the engine 13 years later

I figure my Series 60 will last me as long as I want to drive the bus. As for CA, none of the rest of the world really cares. They can go ahead and be suicidal idiots if that's what they want.

I saw it on the Internet. It MUST be true...

The series 60 is going needs to be maintained too they don't run forever in a bus without it, they have a maintenance guide you need to follow, the ceramic rollers on the cam follower if you have those can cost you some big money and injectors are not cheap either, the bearing on the bull gear is no big deal if you catch before it fails, pre EGR series 60 give you less problems than the 2000 and above series 60 and you find 2 different grades of series 60 also in buses
