Wow, just tried again with HugheNet and got on.  This is pretty typical.  For those that can't get on, let me know and also keep trying.

What amazes me is that we have over 26 inches of snow this morning (still snowing) and the dish has to have a pretty good layer of snow!!!

I sent out the latest Newsletter to all of our members and both ballots with instructions on who to send them to. I also sent out via snail mail to 23 members. I did receive fewer bounce backs than the previous newsletter that was sent out in August. It's getting better. As I receive new email addresses from our members, I pass that on to Becky so she can make the appropriate changes on the roster.

We will always have some problems as folk change their information, then forget to tell us. It's still much easier, faster and much cheaper than snail mail.

What link is that, Clifford? The only link I have ever posted was a sample ballot to show the Board how it would look. No one can vote there. Each e-mail address  has a specific ballot. That ensures that no one can vote more than one accidentally.

As for not receiving the e-mailed ballot, I used the list from the most current roster I got from Paul and Becky. Tell me what e-mail address you have listed and I will double check it. I just looked through the list and you and Sonja both should have received a ballot even though you should only use one since they are set up for couples. Yours went to your gmail address and Sonja's went to her hotmail address. That is what is shown on the roster.

I was surprised within the last week I got the same message when trying to get on the BCM board.

I thought I would bring this thread back to the top and see if folks are still having problems *connecting* to eaglesinternational.net.  Failing to connect gives you a DNS error or "can't find server" error.

The subject came up again today on the eaglesinternational.net site:

http://www.eaglesinternational.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2767

Personally, I have a failure to connect almost every day.  Even my proxy server has occasional problems connecting.  Same is true with my AT&T iPhone.  No problem with my Verizon air card (unfortunately, we have a very poor signal at the house).

Since folks having problems might not be able to see that thread, or relate their problems, I decided to "reactivate" this thread.

Jim,

Since we don't have an Eagle I seldom go there, but I just tried and received the no server on the first attempt, OK on the second.

Cliff, thanks for checking.

If others are willing to try, and if you have a problem, let us know who provides your internet service.  Typically that will be the folks that provide your DSL, cable, fixed wireless, or satellite (the good folks who send you a bill each month)  ;D

If you have slow connection, it is normal to get a DNS failure once in a while.  On good connections it is pretty rare unless there is a DNS problem.

Jim -

Using FireFox with Comcast/Xfinity as the provider, no problems accessing the forum using the link you provided earlier.

Futzing around with the URL a little took me to the EI home page w/o any problems, either.

Thanks guys.  I am using a library wireless connection and no problem.

The main providers that seem to have a problem are the two satellite providers (HughesNet and Wild Blue) and AT&T.  Again, all of those are intermittent problems.  On my HughesNet, I can get on maybe 10-20% of time, using HughesNet and a proxy about 60-70% and AT&T about 70%.

If anyone using a satellite system can do a bit of testing, it would be great:
