I seem to have more problems around the weekend. First of the week I'm back in business. I'm on Wildblue just like Eric. Let me also add that I have no problems with any other site I visit period.

I haven't experienced any problems for several weeks now. At one time it was awful. So I'm not sure why some are experiencing difficulty and some aren't.

I am at my sons house on two different computers on the same system as our house and still can't get on. I was able to get on one time last night at home but nothing since about 8:30 PM last night.

Mike and Clifford,

What error does your screen give you? Or is the connection just timing out. Please provide more detail other than just can't get on. That way maybe we can try to figure it out.

Get in contact with Dale, maybe he can provide more in depth information from the server as to what the potential problem is.

I was hoping that our site was back to normal. :'(

Dale,
OK, here we go again. Time is 9:21 est. Have been trying on the desktop to get on the Eagle board since 4:30 AM, no luck. I am using Farmers Telephone Corp. DSL system. When logging on to the Eagle board I try to log in from a bookmark and have also done it from a search and this is what I get back in the window....Internet Explorer could not find www.eaglesinternational.net. The laptop is using the same system and this morning it went right on the Eagle board through a bookmark.
Go figure, yesterday same message on both computers.

Do you have Dale's email address? If not let me know and I'll send it to you.

First, I think Dale and Jason (owner of the host) are following this thread.  I flagged it for them.  Dale is on the road and is probably not as much in contact as he would be at home.  Please don't write to him, he is aware of the issue and I am trying to compile the issues here.  If you get a failure notice that has **details**, then you can email the failure notice to me at my Eagles email account:

jim at eaglesinternational dot net

This morning I can't get on via HughesNet or iPhone AT&T.  Have not tired Verizon yet (real pain to disconnect/connect and the connection is slow since we have a very weak signal).

Tom, I finally got around to studying the OpenDNS offering and I am very impressed.  I spent about 3 hours last night getting it set up - only to find that it does not work with HughesNet.  When I do the testing, it says that I am going through a proxy.  I did a bunch of searching and there are a couple of schemes to disable what is called the "turbo page".  This is HughesNet connection to their DNS.  It is very hard to do that (most people give up).  Hughes forces that software, reportedly to better deal with the latency of the satellite communication.

In a few minutes, I will connect to Verizon to get on the Eagles site and do some playing with OpenDNS.

Hi Clifford.  The electronic voting for the chapter officers and bylaw modifications is not done on the website.  Dale emailed a link for the voting process to all active EI members (who have email addresses).  You have to get the email to vote electronically.

As Paul has said many times, emailing members is a real challenge.  When Paul tries to send the newsletter via email, he gets a bunch of "bounces" for folks who have not updated their email addresses.  In addition, many folks have some pretty powerful spam blockers and the emails tend to be blocked or put in a spam folder that they don't check.

Have these folks write to me:  jim at eaglesinternational dot net.

I would also like to have them write to me about their logon issues so that I can be the focal point for the problem.  I will compile them and get them to Dale/Jason.

Hey guys,

As Jim says, we are looking into this. It has to be on a case by case basis so we do need specific error messages that you receive, along with internet service provider and any other information that you can give.

The site has had zero downtime since early November. That does not discount the problems people are having and we are trying to figure them out.

Clifford, if you have people having an issue with the voting system that just sort of adds to the 'individual problem' scenario because the voting system is not hosted on the Eagle server and has nothing in common with it. The EI ballot is hosted by a 3rd party company on their own server.

i have tried the links about 6 times in the last 3 days or so and have gotten on in less than a second every time but once. That time it took about 2-3 seconds. :)  I am using a Mac with Firefox. When i get there i don't stay long as i don't want my computer to start rusting. ;D

Sorry, Clifford, misunderstood what you were saying.

As you point out, the newsletter (with the ballots) is posted on the website in the members only area.  They also should have gotten an email copy.  I don't think that Paul has snail mailed the newsletter to those who need to receive it that way (not sure about that).

One of the issues here may be that members who have not paid their dues for the past few years were purged.  Di spent a lot of time trying to reach those members to make sure they had an opportunity to become current.  I suspect the folks who contacted you are current, but that is even more reason for them to contact me.

I want to make sure we are talking about the same problem here as there may be two problems.  The major issue we are trying to address here is the failure to connect to the main page:  http://www.eaglesinternational.net/

If they can connect with the main page, but can't login on the forum, that is a completely different problem.  If it is a forum login problem, they can contact me and I can reset their password so that they can login.  At the same time, I can check their user rights to make sure they have access to the proper forums (public vs chapter member).
