Although I am not going to use one in my bus, I may put one in my house.  I just found that Costco is selling Mr Cool mini splits at seriously reduced prices-- under $900 for 12k and under $1000 for 18k.  That's about $400 below retail. The 12k is 115 volts, the 18k is 220 volts.  In case you are not familiar with Mr Cool, it is designed for DIY installation with 25 feet of precharged hose and quick connects.  It has a 7 year compressor and 5 year parts warranty.  Being sold by Costco is a pretty good testimonial for me.

Best part about it being sold by Costco, is their return policy!

I do not under stand the pre charged lines ?

with all the split units I have put in my rv , house and garage the units come charged and all I have done is made up my own lines of the right sized a/c copper lines . all I do is use a good flaring tool with all the right nuts and make sure it is tight . then hook up a vacuum on the system to check for leaks . if all is good you open up the lines on the a/c unit and presto COOL AIR . on the a/c unit you buy it will tell you the maximum length of line you can use before you need to add Freon
I just replaced a 12 year old unit with a new one that is inverter tech and wow ! what a difference . slower start and way less noise and it uses less power

I've seen these before. Quick connects and no need to evacuate and charge. Just connect lines and electrical and you are done.

You still need a AC tech and company to install the precharge lines or there is no warranty read the fine print

Very few read fine print till they have an issue. I wouldn't go with that. Rather have someone I know  at least check over, evacuate and charge system.

There is something one the website that says the warranty is dependent upon installation from a licensed contractor.  But that is possibly for non-DIY units.  The website also states in a note below that that, "*State certified or licensed HVAC contractor not required for warranty on the DIY series units. (Always check your local laws.)"  This is something that certainly be clarified.

Lin where they get you on Mr Cool and others is the warranty will not cover parts unless submitted by a authorized dealer, I take that to mean a dealer has to be called to do the work or no warranty.I was going to buy one those for my space down stairs I decided not to after reading and pay a guy just to install me one it was only $185.00 more and he has to do the work for a year any problems I call him

the one I just installed in the house is a 120 volt 9 k unit heat pump

very small and quiet and because my house is a I C F ( insulated concrete form ) it dose not take much to cool or heat it

I would go to the 12 k 120 volt if you are putting it in a coach or go to the 230 volt units with multi heads and use a step up transformer

cost for the 9 k was $ 902 and that included the 13 % tax the government takes + about $ 78 for the lines

this is in canuck bucks ... so it should be less for you guys in the US

stock right out of the box . on start up it is slow and then speeds up and at times when the inside has cooled down to the set temperature the outside unit slows down then it will shut off and on as needed

super quiet inside and out
