That makes it better.  A lot of the ones I saw on eBay were paperback bound.

I saw an older version with a 6SE266 part number on it.  Also if anyone has the number for the military version, I might be able to get that one.

iirc....  6SE266... is the last edition, after which supplements were still being added up until 1996, i do not know the final supplement #.... what i do know is i'll never need the 4 stroke data....I would go with Caterpillar were I in the 4 stroke mood ... :)

i still have a few of these around too ....tho this one is not a picture of mine ...  :o

you are probably right... i am in the bus and my book is in the house... ???

Edit:  they are all 6SE266.... mine is 1987... :o with  a tiny amount of Series 60 reference, and minimal DDEC and DDECII

PS. mung i have never seen one that was not in a ring binder.

While searching for the military version I found this.  It is kind of interesting.

The job lists in that document are pretty cool as is the training section.  I would love to get my hands on a copy of the slides they used.

oops...

so i was able to finally find the time to scan my Field Service Data Handbook.
I did a tiny bit of editing, as in changed the page color to a grey scale..because it was too bright and aged/yellowed as it was...
I had to do each page separately and a few pages are out of order...I left those as is.
So...would anyone be interested in a donation type offer ?
the scanner cost a few bucks.
here is a page.
Using the Windows 10 photo viewer, it worked best to center each page vs. orienting like a "copier" because enlarging them offset to "off view" if that makes any sense... a guru I am not.
Any interest ?

ps. before you decide..i would download the picture and see if it is compatible to your viewer and satisfactory in any other regards...

I don't know...  I have two of the original small field service binders ending in the eighties.  When I bought them I was promised lifetime updates mailed to my house.  That didn't last long.  After a couple of years I remembered to ask the DDA parts guide what happened to my updates, and I was handed a 1/4" thick pile up of updates.  That was okay, but in order to get the updates to fit they wanted me to throw out a bunch of old stuff that I wanted to keep.  So the updates are on the side.  I lost interest after DDA broke their promise on sending me lifetime updates.
