Just a question to start,my old book is complete up to revision/supplement (add on) number 47, does anyone have more recent ones than I have ?
There are about 300 pages to the book as I have it...

Would anyone here want to have a digital copy ?
Would you be willing to help offset the cost of such a thing ?

With so much of these documents being lost over time maybe now is a good time to preserve them.

So what are your thoughts ?    :)

If I can find a good deal on one that I can unbind, I can scan it at work.

Mine is only 2 stroke stuff....IIRC...

The book is/was never for sale that i am aware.... in the old days it was gifted to Guild members by dealers/employers and then to high volume purchasers of DD engines and powered equipment.

mung... heres one with 45 supplements you can buy.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/EXCLLNT-Detroit-Diesel-Specifications-FIELD-SERVICE-DATA-Book-Shop-Manual-6SE266-/191481307618

Donald -

I'd be interested.

I also have a high quality scanner, if needed.

I saw an older version with a 6SE266 part number on it.  Also if anyone has the number for the military version, I might be able to get that one.

I quess two books or a combination of 2 stroke and 4 stroke might be a better way to go.... the one for sale on ebay the guy wants 300$...
of course I would never sell mine, but am will ing to help out the scanner is not the problem (for me).. the converting it to pdf is the part that I do not have the software to produce, but FedEx office does.. the cost to convert it is about $ 80.00... so I thought that others would be interested, it's early yet, let's see if anyone else wants one.

The more pages the cheaper it is up to a point...the price breaks are every 50 pages approximately.

heres another on ebay (greasy) for 240$....  :-[

It would kill me to have to unbind a $300 book to scan it.  Our scanners here convert to PDF on the fly so that is nice.

They are a 3 ring snap note book no need to destroy it by unbinding the book
