Chassis electrical problem

Hi Guy's,

Started up my coach today. All my dash gauges were not working.. I also noticed that my turn signals/4 ways

were not working. Only half my marker lights were lit. I went into the front electrical box and looked for loose or

burns at the circuit breakers but none found. Everything else seems to be working.

Question, do the dash gauges operate on 12v or 24v?

Nick, not sure about the gauges now, but it's been awhile. The lights are 24v, I do remember there being a 12 tap from the vanner down below. The dash illumination bulbs IIRC are 24v also

I would start checking the relays. Good luck

I was thinking the gauges were 12v.. The dash lights are working.

Time to start snooping.

Found it..

I opened up the drivers electrical panel and started testing all the circuits and

found power at all gauge terminals. Then I said to myself, I should call US Coach

and see if they came across this problem before.. Sure enough, Bill answered the

phone and within 10 seconds of asking him this question he pointed me right to

the ground terminals where I found 1 rotted completely off!! What a great guy!!

The ground terminals are at the bottom of the compartment where they are

notorious for corroding. Ran a jumper to the terminal and dash gauges worked!

All fixed up.

Made a new stud block for all 36 terminals..

Well done! We had the same corrosion problem with the D3.

Hi Nick, grounds always seem to be the issue in MCIs, so much so I always look for that first, lvmci...

FYI, pretty sure your guages are 24v, but could be mistaken. Only thing 12v on the the MCI is the blower relay in the rear compartment (and maybe some secondary equipment
like radios and meters, etc).

The only reason I was thinking they were 12v was because my 12v power port on my dash also didn't work.

Turns out that power port was tied to the same broken ground lug as the dash gauges...

Aww... that information would have been the smoking gun that pointed to a ground issue. The common denominator.

I'm going out on a limb a bit saying your guages are 24 volt because I don't actually have experience with the 102, but I believe that's something
MCI didn't change from earlier versions, such as my MC9. A quick check of the electrical schematic would confirm it, but I don't have one for the 102.

You didn't receive yours yet? Must be "lost in the mail". Probably cause I didn't have your beachfront address.
