I started getting our engine ready to pull to swap engines.  I have this engine ready to pull except for the transmission lines. I am waiting for more caps & plugs to seal the lnes and transmission fittings.  Tomorrow, I will set up the engine dolly and clean remove parts while I wait for the arrival of the rest of the caps & plugs. As the "Fun" continues, I will post more photos.  Jack

Jack, I've seen your attention to detail, it'll go just fine. I wish I could be there to help and learn.

I think Jack isn't actually doing an upgrade of HP/displacement engine so to speak but merely doing an exchange for an updated (newer/fresher) 8v71.

The one he has runs but has many over the road miles and me thinks he wants to get where he's going using a little less oil and maybe a little quicker!  ::)

Jack,I noticed in the other post that the new engine is not a turbo engine now is a great time to go with dual exhaust they make a difference in the performance of the N/A 8v71 engines plus they sound good just listen to a Eagle with a 8V71. good luck
Life is short drink the good wine first

Jack,
I noticed fin the other post that there isn't any oil on that newer engine, are you sure it runs? LOL
Just kidding. It does the heart good just knowing that this addiction to spending money on buses isn't exclusive ;D Good luck with your project. I'm sure everyone is excited to see pictures of the finished project-I know I am!

Nice work Jack, It's great to hear someone cares enough to cap the lines. In my biz they wack your hand if you don't. Keep up the good work.

That a great idea of you sharing a series photos of the beginning and (if you will) the end. It always interesting to see the engine and/or transmission swap or repaired in the album.

Take care...hope someone there to help you beside Garfield the cat. Gerald

Another 8V71.  The "new" engine is set up as 304/318 HP with Jakes. It has about 42,000 on a complete out of frame rebuild including rebuilt air compressor and starter.  Jack
