Actually, I purchased some VHT manifold paint, but the directions say to apply and bake at 650 degrees within 8 hours of aplication to cure the paint. The manifolds are too big for Paula's oven and I don't think she wants me baking manifolds in it anyway. I will wait until the engine is in and running then apply manifold paint and drive the bus to cure the paint.  Jack

The engine compartment is cleaned and painted. The transmission is reconnected to the engine. DD sent the wrong front cover gasket, so I can't install the front cover off my old engine or the engine cradle (that attaches to the front cover). Probably a trip to DD on Monday for the correct gasket. Still have to torque the flex plate to torque converter bolts and bell housing bolts. Then install new flexible air lines, fuel filter housings and oil fliter housing.

Jack, where did you get the paint for the engine compartment? What color is that? I think it's the same color I have been looking for to paint my blower compartment but I haven't been able to find it at hardware stores. Let me guess, it's probably a detroit diesel color!!!

Thanks for helping make me a copycat.

The engine compartment paint is Valspar Truck & Trailer  (premium oil/heavy duty) Gray # 4634.  I am pretty sure I got this paint at our local Tractor Supply (TSC) store.  Jack
