DDEC I data port wiring diagram?

I have a fellow bus nut that wants to put a SilverLeaf on his DDEC I (first version).  He knows that his data will be a bit limited, but wants to go ahead.

DDEC I does not use the standard 6 or 9 pin data port.  That is not a problem if we have the wiring for the 12 pin (?) connector.

I have searched the net and can't find a diagram.  Hopefully one of you will have a manual that will have the information.

It is possible that DDEC II used the same connector, so that data port wiring information will possibly help.

Thanks,

Jim

Wow, lost another post.  Lets try again.

It turns out that the diagram that Pete posted was for a DDEC II.  It shows the data terminals being J and K.  I have a diagram for DDEC I and pins J and K are not data pins.  I tried to post a diagram for the DDEC I, but it was too large.  I will work on getting it to the correct size, but it is a PDF and I have to work on that.

Pro Link makes a 12 pin adapter for DDEC I and II, so there must be a way to get the data for DDEC I.  If anyone has that adapter, would you mind checking the pin connections from the 12 pin side to the Pro-Link side?

Thanks,

Jim

Here ya go

My prolink 12 pin aldl cable is suppose to work for both ddec-I and ddec-II
(just what pins are your 12 pin ALDL ddec data lines on - could they be A & E like old OBD1 automobiles ??)

Here's the answer to your question see-->
http://www.bb-elec.com/bb-elec/literature/D6D15M-1303ds.pdf

on the prolink DB15 connector (J1708 + is pin 15) & (J1708 - is pin 14)

clear as mud - give me a call ...386..672.0571

Pete - you owe me another beer ;-)

Wow Pete, the next thing you know I will owe you a six pack!

Here, I hope, is the diagnostic 12 pin connector that DD shows for DDEC I  I am sorry, it is the best quality I can get from the PDF I have.

Pete, I will call you back in a few minutes.

Pete, the customer confirmed that the wiring was per the previous diagram.  He hooked up the SilverLeaf to the "L" and "A" terminals and seemed to be getting some sort of data.  We are trying to sort out another non-related connection issue.

Hopefully your testing of the 12 pin Pro Link adapter will show that terminals J and L as well as A and K are jumpered together in pairs.

Jim

None of the connections are jumpered in the DB15 cable or 12 pin ALDL adaptor - sorry

Wow.  The plot thickens.  How in the heck do they pick up the engine information?  If the adapter only looks at pins J and K, it seemingly can't see any data ???

Thanks for checking Pete.

Anyone else have any idea?

yea - New Jersey Transit used a custom cable or a cross wired adapter for thier PROLINKS

or

Because the "L" terminal is actively wired to the DB15 cable -  the possiblity exists that the "PROLINK" crosses the wires internally ????
