Complete driver error.  The driver could have easily gently swerved around the other car but waited too long to make a safe move-he did have time to flash his headlights though.  Good Luck, TomC

Yup, driver chose the wrong strategy.

Provided there isn't a median lurking in the haze of the reproduction, and it's hard to tell where those autos going away in the spray might be in relation to the coach, a simple lane change instead of flashing the lights would have done the job and likely not alarmed the passengers either.

Hmmm, how did the refrigerator get fastened down?

On a secondary level, having less than balanced braking in the wet will affect directional control in a panic application, a real concern for us busnuts, depending on what preventive maintenance we do year to year.

happy coaching!

That's an old video.

The driver was tossed out onto the road and got up.

The best thing he could have done was to nerf the car and hold steady.
Hold the power steady and plow on and hope to keep the bus straight.

It was wet and the bus was coming down a grade which no doubt upset
things, If it had been dry the event would have been different.

Just a point of view....

Don't you read the boards? This has been discussed before & there were some adamant posters insisting loose items can't cause problems if you don't plan to drive like that.  :o

It's even been said that if one was to build the cabinets such that it was a tight friction fit as the fridge was installed, it would stay put.  ::)

This happened in Turkey. Driver was caught 5 minutes later and is probably under the jail ( literally ). They have pits they drop prisoners in in the Sinop prison.

I would do whatever I could to avoid someone, but in this case,

He would be getting a straight on bump in the rear,

I'm wasn't sitting in the drivers seat but it looks like there was time for a safer lane change prior to the lights flashing. I noticed the driver of the car buggered off fairly quickly, probably told his freinds "I was there about that time and didn't see a thing"

I think the bus driver was being overly aggressive and he screwed himself.  I have been guilty of the same behavior in my younger and stupider days (only in a car)
When someone pulled out in front of me at what I thought was too close, I might run up on their bumper in an attempt to teach them the error of their ways, instead of just slowing down a bit. It never seemed to work.

Doing that in a bus, especially with passengers aboard is just incredibly stupid.
