I didn't notice the window was open a little after our last trip. The rain was inconvenient but not a big deal. Not till we went in to the storage under the bed and found the books in a box that was soaked. The 4104 Parts Manual took the biggest hit, it was on the bottom.
The wife and I have spent about 2 weeks separating the wet pages and drying the 671 man., the 4104 maint. man, the 4104 parts man., and the DD series 53 operators man.(it came with the coach). About the back 1/3 of the parts man. is unusable.
Lesson learned. Keep all important papers, and books out of harms way. I put the mans. on disk last year, so most of the information is still at hand. But the original books had hand written foot notes from Peerless Stage Lines that pertained to this coach. Many of those notes in the parts man. were lost forever. The adventure never ends.....Cable

Cable,
Sorry to hear of such a loss! And while it's too late for this instance, rubbermaid, tupperware or simular sealing totes make excellant storage "boxes" for such situations! Again sorry to hear about this terrible & irreplacable loss of valuable info!  :(  BK   :'(

Don't be toos hard on yourself.  I will not tell you a story where a guy forgot to remove all of the expensive, rare, expensive (did I say that already?) research library books on loan...

from the rare book research library from the open back of his pickup truck where he left them and wouldn't ya know it, it snowed 5 inches that night.  Totaled!!  $$$Aughhhh$$$  Oh well.  :) :) :)

white-eagle

bet they pulled your library card, too.

we had a rainstorm yesterday that looked on radar like a quick but minor shower, so we didn't cover all the merchandise or get the plasic out.  boy, was my boss hot when the wind blew buckuts under the awning almost b4 we moved the tables.

   I found a owners & parts book in a 4104
that was at a shredding yard, books were
totally soaked. I put them right in front of
the air filter door of my household a/c unit
about a week later both books were completely
   dry with no stuck pages!
