I followed the posted link and it played a news story about a sink hole in Texas.  The message title said "old tires".  Is that what they are supposed to fill the hole with?

My tires are Koreian and the DOT numbers are a bit different.. theres a small ovel with (5005)and (4905) I assume it means 50th week of 05 
etc ?  2 of the tires have NO code numbers after the Dot and a few letters  ??? ??? ???

Bought them about 7 months ago.. ???

Sometimes the DOT numbers and build dates are only on one side of the tire-check the inside of the tires.  Good Luck, TomC

Only vaguely related.  I just went up to Santa Cruz and brought my other bus, the 67 Superior down south.  Before taking it, I had my mechanic there look it over and make sure it was ready for a 500 mile trip.  It really has not been on a trip in years.  He greased it, topped off the fluids, checked around and said everything looked okay, but that I should change the outer, left, rear tire since it had a lot the cracking, and he doubted its integrity.  I switched it out with the spare.  When I got it off, it turned out that there was a serious, deep split going completely across the tread.  That tire would have been guaranteed to come apart on the road.  Except for it being a bit jagged, it almost looks like it has been cut.
