I think I understand why some one has made a loop up on the genset water line out of one inch copper, to get it out of the door way but is this going to cause problems with the cooling system?

I think this is to monitor the charging of the battires but does any body know any thing about the system?  Is this a monitor or is it part of a system that might include the two inverter looking things in the engine bay that are toasty looking?

Hi Bob,

I'm sure they looped that copper pipe up for access reasons.   Is there a vent to purge that loop?

Your Statepower charge controller was state of the art back in the 80's..lol   It looks to be just a charging unit.

no vent.

That is I don't think there was originally, I think the fire melted some of the solder on one of the joints and it does have a little leak now.

Probably should have a vent to bleed the air out of the pipe. This will prevent an air lock which could cause the engine to overheat.  Jack

Would it be better to have the water go down then back up to the top of the radiator rather than to go up 2 foot above the fill cap?

I would think that you would need toget as much water in and as much air out as possible?

I agree that it could cause a air pocket and cause problems.  I Wonder how long it has run that way.    I do remember the man I talked to said some thing about the genset getting hot real easy.

Yes. The fill has to be the highest spot in the system in order to get all the air out.  Jack
