My 4108 doesn't have a front emblem and I thought I would make one. I can hammer one out in copper repousse' to look like anything I want.
But....... I'm not sure I want to the "stock look" for that year. I was wondering if there was a place to check out all the GMC emblems?? I kinda think the older ones look a bit cooler.
  Any suggestions??
  Thanx,
       Chaz

late buffalos would have had GMC letters on the aluminum silver witha  recessed red middle

early buffs had GMC in Chrome on the breast plate.

06's had GM in crome on the breast plate

04's had a very ornate and difficult to reproduce trapazoid on the breast.

Fishbowls had GMC in a trapeziod all alum and chrome

old looks had an ornate rectangle similar in construction to the 04's

Thats fine, but where can I see pix??

I'm sure there are lots more.

join the yahoo Gm Busnuts group and look through the photos...should have everything there.

the old look GM Transit Logos are hard to find in good condition and do bring good money

4104 emblems are made of unobtanium...and If you would find a nice one would probably be a 500.00 item

06 letters, easily duplicated and should not cost anything for OEM

Fishbowl breastplate...dime a dozen

Later GMC letters are the same as used on GMC trucks in the late 70's and 80's.
( I have a set of these new if you are interested)

Thanx Paul!
I am looking to put an emblem just below the windshield on that flat odd shaped section. I have a bunch of little holes there.

I am a member and have a post there too.

Do you have a pic of a 4104? I will do some searching. I can't say as I can precisely duplicate an emblem, but I make one look pretty close and cool to boot. And a helluvalot cheaper than 500.00!!!! But if some one is a "purest" I doubt I can do them any good.

I'll post a pic of what I do for me when I get it done.

  Thanx,

no photos of that logo off hand..... I am sure JLVickers has one he can post next time he logs on.

the 04 logo will not fit on the fiberglass breastplate of a buff....too large

Chaz

I did some lookin and couldn't find anything i liked. I thought i had seen a neat old logo that had the "M" larger than the other two. Also one where it was a old, interesting looking font.
Oh well, no hurry.
  Thanx.

nothing on a GM Bus with a M larger than the others.

No real interesting or dated fonts...at least post war

yahoo group has a new photo posted of an Old Look Enblem....same font was on the 4104......and similar look but 4 times the size and trapaziod

Chaz,

If you really want to be cool,

Find a photo of the original Dog tag that Greyhound put on the bus.

Talk about impossible to find... those things are worth just about 12 times their weight in .999 fine gold.

Good Luck.

PS, gonna have a little coffee Klatch in Chattanooga in April.. wanna come? we'll also be up in the Cinci are at the end of Feb if you wanna see what we do.

Dogs emblems on the front of GM's went away with the 4104 I think...perhaps the 4106.

and yes they are quite rare.......even moreso are the original plastic opaque back lit dogs saw one on ebay went for a load of cash

Slightly off Topic.

MCI and TMC lettering on MC-8's and 9's were optional and quite expensive.......that why you see so many with none

Could something like this be what you are remembering?  This is actually on a '57 pickup though.

Chaz

I guess maybe it was some other GMC logo. Maybe a truck as "Red" says. I will keep my eye open.
The Dog Tag sounds interesting. any pix anywhere? I'll try a search.

Dallas,
Yaeh, I might be interested!! If I can get my bus up and running on WVO by then. The bad thing is I have a 9 day Home and Garden Show in Cincy I do to show my metal sculpture the first of March and then after that, I have to teach the 8th grade for 2 more weeks. I am pretty sure that is at the very end of March. Sooooooo....... lots to do between now and then. But I'll do what I can!!
But by all means, stop by on your trip to Cincy, or let me know where you be! We'll try to hook up!
  Thanx guys!!!
Trying to get a little "nosey",    ;)

Chaz -

Here's the first of five breastplate pics for you.  Can't seem to size them properly to keep this bbs happy, so have to split it into five posts.
