Gentlemen,

I have basically completed the inside remodel of my MC7 -- so being a old farm boy I like to keep my diesel tank full when not in use to prevent condensation for forming in the tank.  Since I have been doing this a small amount of fuel will present itself in front most luggage bay area.  If the coach is parked sloped to either side maybe 5-10oz of fuel will run out.  It appears to be coming from a box located to the rear of the front most baggage bay.  I did a little research and it appears that is the location of aux fuel tank, this tank appears to plumbed beneath the coach to main tank.

To complicate this issue, i retro the otr air system to become the basement air system for the whole bus, which meant replacing the 24 dc air handling motor with 240vac version, so in the bay basically the width of what i think is aux tank sloping wider to the width of the old air service door in the front of bay is now closed off with sheet metal -- so this diesel smell finds itself into the coach when the air handling is running ... even though all of this metal work was sealed with hvac mastic the strong negative pressure due to the air handling fan introduces these diesel fumes into the coach.

so now for the question -- is this back bump out in the forward most luggage bay the aux tank.

since i have the air handling area boxed out, removal of the covering around what i think to be aux tank is complicated.  So, prior to doing that i was wondering if anyone else had this issue -- if this is indeed the aux tank, i am thinking that it either has an opening in the top of the tank and when it is full it splashes out, runs between the aluminum cover and fines it way tot he main floor of the luggage bay ... or it has vent tube that is either blocked or it has shorten over time and it now empties to floor of the baggage area rather than running thru the floor and out of the coach.

i appreciate any advice that you guys my have.

There is a vent system that connect to main tank....consist of large hoses & pipes.
Probably leaking. Remove bottom box frame's cover to access it and inspect.
Fume should never be near electric motor.

Sounds like the fuel is leaking from the vent tube at the top of the Aux. fuel tank. The aux. tank is connected to the main tank at the top and bottom.
At the bottom, there are 3 copper tubes ( I think they are about 1" or 1 1/4" diameter with short sections of rubber hose at each end connecting them to the tanks (aux. & main). These tubes are accessible by removing a panel under the bus between 2 of the framing members that run lengthwise.
The vent pipe at the top of the aux. tank is similar and runs from the top of the aux. tank to the top of the main tank (visible looking in the fuel door at the main tank). You wiull have to remove the cover around the asux. tank to access the rubber connector at the top of the aux. tank. Cover has bolts through the bulkhead between front and middle bays with nuts on the backside.
OR, try leaving the tank at about 3/4-7/8 full.  Jack
