Here's some general info on this repair.  I've been very frustrated by a door I couldn't keep closed.  I thought a good household deadbolt would keep the entry door closed and boy was I wrong!  Darn thing would vibrate open in no time.  So I decided that the original air latch should be the best option.  Well, the darn thing wouldn't work.  No air.  All lines attached.  The old handle closing system was removed, but the electrical switch was still there.  Got goofy voltage readings.  So, I bypassed the old electric relay valve, which was stuck closed and whala!  Air to the cylinder!  Just needed to lube up the pivot points on the latch (and will continue to need to do that to get it to release properly).  As a note for future searchers, MCI 7 entry doors are changed as the years went past.  My bus is a 1968, the door is 1972.  They changed the main hinge so that the door must be re-drilled and they redesigned the catch.  If you do this swap, the old catch will line up right if you line up the top middle screw on a 1972 door.  Then mark drill and tap the rest.

It sure was nice to be 40 degrees today!  ;D  Nice and balmy!
