Frigidaire 23 seer A/C to hit market June

Ok, Todays Dealer meeting was very intresting.

We were informed that NORDYNE, the mother company of my Frigidaire line, has devoleped new technology in air conditioning. 23 SEER!

Ready for this... a vairable speed compressor!!   Operating on R-410A gas, this compressor at full speed turns 3600 rpm then ramps down to 900 rpm depending on demand. I'll give you guy's more info as I get the cut sheets in soon.

Wouldn't this be a plus if the also made a 115v version of this compressor? Just think of the inverter power we would save!

23 seer is the biggest jump in the market, since the highest right now is 18 seer!

   The Fujitsu 12RLQ  is a 12000 BTU rated mini split rated at 21SEER.

I was referring to conventional split systems with duct work, 2 to 5 tons.

SEER  is a marketing driven concept that exploits the fact that a variable capacity air conditioner will have higher efficiency at reduced capacity.  For example the Fujitsu 12RLQ has a SEER of 21 but it's EER (energy efficiency) is 13.5 at it's rated output of 12000BTU/h and an EER of under 10 at it's maximum output of 14,500 BTU/h  Obviously the EER is also much higher at very low heat flux.  High SEER is an advantage in most air conditioning systems because they are often running well below capacity but In a bus our major concern is EER at max capacity because that's what determines the size of the power source we need.  Unfortunately SEER gives bigger numbers and EER ratings are going to be harder to get.
