Grounding House bank and Inverter?

Should my house bank be grounded to the chassis of my bus? Why? Why not? It has not been grounded before so I assumed it was not needed but was told today it needs to be done. If so how should it be done? Not doubting the recommendation just want to learn "WHY" I'm doing what I do. Or pro's & cons

I followed the recommendations found in the inverter installation guide and it seems like the grounding system was designed to elminate feedback into the inverter. I hooked it up to the bus chassis ground. I did find out that you should not use the same grounding lug as the start batteries

Grant, if you use a Link 2000 battery monitor, you cannot help hooking them together. My recommendation is to make sure the body ground is as good as you can make it.

The starter should have a 4/0 ground cable run all the way from the Link ground to the ground post on the starter, IMO. The Link shunt needs to be near the batteries, so we wound up with polishing the bulkhead and running a big cable from the common terminal to the body.

In any case, if the connection is to be trouble free, the paste that prevents corrosion should be used at the body end.
