Bus collapsed while victim was underneath
By Kristen Abraham

CLARE COUNTY (WJRT) - (09/19/07)--A Clare County man was
killed after a bus collapsed on his body Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the accident happened on the 4000 Block of West
Adams Road just after 4:30 p.m. in Lincoln Township near the
town of Lake.

Police say the 65-year-old man had been working on the old
model bus for several weeks. Police say the man's family has
asked for his name not to be released.

His wife was home when the accident happened. His home on
Adams sits back on the road and is on private property.

Investigators say the man was working on his 1959 GMC bus.
He was in the process of converting the bus into a mobile
home when it collapsed, crushing him.

"He had braced it up with two pieces of wood that lost their
stability when he was working underneath it," said Deputy
Sean Robb with the Clare County Sheriff's Department.

"Then it collapses on top of him. He didn't have it braced
up properly enough to prevent it from happening."

Clare County police say their investigation is closed. There
is no indication it was anything more than a terrible accident.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a good Reisling in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming:  WOO HOO, what a ride

I have been checking the newspaper for the area for a death notice to see if I can find his name but the list only goes through 9-17.  I will keep checking to see if it is anyone we know.  Cat

From the press release:

"Then it collapses on top of him. He didn't have it braced

It was in Clare County in Michigan.  I have been checking the local paper for obituaries but it must not be a daily paper.  The last obituary is dated 9-17.  I'll check again tomorrow.  Cat
