im still looking and learning...more learning that looking!!
sunday i went to look at a m.c.i. which was on ebay and didnt sell.
it was very close ,2 hour drive one way, the weather was nice.
WOW !!!! bus ran
when parked 6/7 years ago, tons of rust and even the alumium was crodeing ...$4,500.....

every door i opened ,wasps poured out (didnt get stung!!)
i dont even think this was a parts bus...maybe the glass or the two manuals on the seat...
i tryed to buy just the manuals, but the  sell didnt want to sell just the manuals...dam!!
oh well i wasnt expecting much anyways...

which one was this?.

for things like that I would suggest asking before spending the time going, unless you want to go for a 4 hour drive.

MCI what, Scottie?  What power and what tranny? It might not be a candidate for conversion but it might be
a donor bus for someone in the area.  BusNuts are incurable shoppers.....

Don't give up Scottie. My purchase took a few months and covered 4 states! I started looking for a GM to convert, but decided that there were no decent conversion candidates left!!!
I looked at buses that were priced at $50K that were not good parts buses. I looked at junk and some peoples broken dreams. I looked at one bus that the Lady's husband had died. She said he had looked for 5 years be for buying it. He must have been really drunk the day he bought it. I cant believe anyone would really have tried to do anything with it, other than a total restoration.
Then I found the one. The one that would take my money, my time, send me to the emergency room. Worse than a woman.
Its been a real journey, found out who my friends are. made a bunch of new ones. learned a whole lot, a whole lot more than I wanted to know. All in all its a very interesting experience.
Just looking for the bus you can meet some very interesting people and learn alot, see a bit of the country and have a lot of fun.
Don't overlook already converted bus's there are some very good ones out there. The real biggie, DO NOT buy a bus without having it inspected by a BUS mechanic. A few hundred dollars for an inspection may save you  thousands of $$$$$ and many heartaches.
                   Good luck Jim

cheap enough.......good for a parts bus.  Did you notice if it had dual pane glass?

Good odds any vehicle with that little info given and "ran good when parked" is a POS.

scottie

hi
i didnt notice about the dual  glass,(didnt know ) would that be on the front only??
there were no broken or cracked ones
what does pos mean???

ha ha ha ..okay got it
yap your 100 percent right on that one!!!

tekebird

dual pane would have been side windows.

I am looking for one is why I ask as I have a cracked outer pane in my Curb side rear......looking for OEM so they match rather than spend 800 or so on Penn Glass and have it missmatched

scottie

to be honest i didnt notice.
i dont think the guy would sell you just the glass,i offered him $$$ for the two mci manuals he had ,but they were not for sale ...only with the bus!!

tekebird

I wouldn't expect him too but the next owner might.

If it ran I'd consider buying it for parts

This weekend, the family and I went to Philadelphia, PA to see the King Tut exhibit at the Ben Franklin.  We rode around Phillie and snapped a few pics.  Then, I told my beautiful wife, "Since we are in North Philly, let's ride over into Camden, NJ and see where ABC bus company is."  I punched it into the GPS and it's very easy to get to.  They had several MCIs out there and the website says they are for purchase.

Just a thought.

(Yes, I would drive an hour out of the way just to look at a bunch of old hounds)... ::)
