Monday, next, Cat and I will be leaving for an 'extended' tour from here at SOB and ending up at Busted Knuckles Shop in Beautiful, Union City, Tn.

We are feverishly working to get the bus repacked and in traveling trim. So far I've mounted the aux air compressor back by the drive shaft and put a set of WATTS filters and regulators on the transmission door to aid in emergency repairs.

The rear shelf has been built and partially loaded, although I haven't had time to wrap it with cedar to give it that "Clampetts" look we are so famous for.

We've dumped a whole bunch of stuff that we have had stored in the bays and haven't looked at for a year or two, although, I just know we'll need it as soon as we get 25 miles down the road.

Cat's last day at work was yesterday. She's a brave lady, and goes along with my silly schemes and dreams with a smile on her face and a comforting touch when things go wrong.
Her co-workers plied her with gifts at work yesterday, including some stuff from "Victoria's Secret" (I'm not gonna tell about THAT!;)
I'm just glad she loves me enough to put up with me.

Left to do is:
Drain the coolant and replace a lower radiator hose. And install some new petcocks at the same time, along with replace the old heater shutoff valves with new ball valves.
Grease the chassis, even though I do it at least once a year, my feeling is that there can't be too much grease!
Fix the @@&**?|/\ brake lights....... again!
Mount 3 new Michigan markers. Not original, but the best I can do right now.
Change the fog light wiring from a push switch on the floor to a toggle on the dash and remove it from the headlight circuit.
Repack the front bay
When we get down the road a ways and find a place to park for a day or two I need to pull the rear wheels and fix a hanging brake, (one spring is broken on the right side). I guess I need to pack the rear wheel bearings while I'm at it, just for S&G's.

Not much to do in 100°+ heat between now and Monday!

It looks like our route right now will take us from here to Greenville, SC, (Gotta stop and see NewbeeMC9, Kyle, possibly Gary Labombard and whoever else wants to say hi!

Then on to Franklin, NC to pick on Bob and Jackie, (NCbob).

From there onward toward Chattanooga to stop and visit with Mike Hill and Jay. I wanna see what they've done to their MC9 and their Flx coach.

From there we'll probably head up toward Shelbyville, Tn and on through Columbia and Lexington, Tn.

My plan is to stop and enjoy the trip at every opportunity, taking backroads and wayside stops to see what there is to see.

If anyone has any suggestions, just holler, we may be able to put them into our itinerary!

Once more, I want to say Thankyou to my wonderful wife for putting up with me.
It's good to have a helpmate that loves me like she does.

For some reason, I thought you two were moving in August.  It's great that you two 'put up with' each other so well!   ;)  I'm just sorry you guys are leaving the area.  I always felt a bit of comfort knowing that there were busnuts along the route we take often.  Although we didn't get to stop by on our last trip (we left Wilmington WAY too late, as always and returned just as late), I always thought of you guys and the get-togethers in Timmonsville.  Are  you sure you guys don't want to make a 'slight' detour and take the coastal route to Tenn?  Wilmington's a pretty city!  You guys have a safe and trouble-free trip.

Dallas,
We are leaving a friend's place near Mayodan, NC on Monday, heading down to Gary & Linda Lombard's. I emailed Kyle about getting together with all the Greenville area busnuts.  Kyle suggested a camping get together at Table Rock State Park 7/21-7/22. If this happens, we will stay at the park on 7/22 and leave Monday, 7/23 to go to Alabama.  Leroy & Lila Ashe live about 5 miles from Table Rock State Park.  Hope to see ya'll   Jack

Table rock park is awesome - IF you are in a smaller camper. Lots of trees & tight turns. The state park is quite popular too. Last time I was there, there were only a few spots (6) that would accomodate a 40' coach.

Here is a link to make reservations online.

This is a cool site - lets you see the sites on a map & if you pick a date, it will let you know which ones are avail to reserve!
The internet can be so cool! ;D

If your ranger nephew could facilitate having a site waiting on you . . . .  ;D

We are at Twin Lakes Campground on Hwy 56N off Exit 280 ( I-40 ) west of Cookeville Tn right now.
Our new home property is about 5 miles away. but no power, phones or internet out there yet.

We will be going there and dry camping for a couple of weeks until we get services hooked up.

No cellular signals from Sprint-PCS worth a hoot. Only U.S.Cellular and Verizon are supported fairly well
here in the Upper Cumberland area. I should have maps and some temporary parking pads done by next month also. Room for about 200 buses on my new place.

May see you at BK's if I can get away from here.
