Basement AC ducting

I have a two stage coleman basement model AC system. I am thinking about using six inch flex insulated ducting. Will that work well enough?

I believe I need to split the cold air discharge immediately at the unit with a T and then one duct to the drivers and one to the passenger side of the bus.

Any ideas?

Grant,
I do not have the installation manual with me, but I seem to recall that they spec'ed 48 sq.in. of supply duct. I was told a smaller duct would not move enough air and a largter duct would not move the air fast enough. We installed a 16"x3" supply duct which runs from the AC unit up the rear of the closet and into a 16"x3" main duct that runs from the OEM escape to just behind the drivers area.  Jack

I should have little issue with the supply side of the system. I am looking at the discharge of cool air.

Thanks

Hi Grant,

From what I'm hearing from you. You are spliting the supply at the unit and using a "T" fitting, and then you will

run two 6" flexes to two trunks, one on each side of the bus. This is the proper way to distribute your air..

The 6" flex is ok. because, of the high speed fan in your system.

Remember that your coleman 2 stage is equilivent to ha Hi Volocity system. Make sure you have a large return

air duct for this to work properly. 14" or larger, and your system will work fine.

Good Luck
