why is the floor tapered? any sugestions on how to level it easily? thanks jim

Don't know why. Maybe to drain liquids forward.

Why bother leveling it. A lot of work, for not much gain.

Seems I heard it was like stadium seating a while back,  4 " drop from back to front.  Liquid running to front is just a benny.  I was glad it did when my plumbing busted .


If you pull up the wood and clean you can plan ahead and use the space for vents and wiring and plumbing, insulation or hydronic heatetc  add extra wires and such for later ideas.  Possibly make access panels in floor for storage etc.  You can also decide how bad you want to level it.

May be easier to use the airbags to level it, or level the bus and cabinets with each other and then forget the floor.

I like you was bound and determined to level the floor on my 8. Jack Conrad talked me out of it and it is just fine like it is. You really don't notice it at all. Just level everything with the window sills and you'll save yourself a lot of unnecessary work.

As Ron mentioned we did not level our floor. When we got to our kitchen cabinets, I measured down from the top of the wall framing and snapped a line on the wall, this was my reference line. The counter tops were parallel with this line. The difference was allowed for in the toe kick member of the cabinets and is not even noticable. The slope is a little less than 1/8" per foot.  Jack

Oh, one other thing... when I installed my shower, I used the floor slope to help drain. I installed the drain at the front of the shower, and only had to add slope to the sides. As long as I get the bus relatively level, the shower will drain.
