I met Evan from the board today and seen his Eagle, Nice bus and nice guy. The bus was Reba McEntire's bus at one time. I followed him over to the "Eagle's Nest" in Nashville Where I met "Joe Stampley" he has a 77 MCI 8 that he bought brand new as a shell. He ordered it for his tour bus, it was $89,000 new. He has had the same interior that he had put in it new, Pretty cool bus. An old reel to reel recording studio built into it that still works and the bus was in great shape. He's been through 4 motors and one tranny. Super nice guy, great day.

Did you happen to ask why he went through four motors?  I'm curious if the mileage on them was high or if the bus sat for long periods that caused the motors to expire.  I suspect high mileage if touring, but maybe the bus sat a lot of time between tours or after he quit touring.  (If he quit touring.)

Has inflation really push prices up 400 to 500% since the late 70s?  A new shell these days probably has more features than a 1970s shell so the cost probably isn't directly comparable.  It would be nice to be able to buy a new shell, but I would have to live in it to ever be able to afford it.

It was a mileage thing, He told me how many but I forgot. He has kept the bus at Eagles Nest from day one and they are the only ones to work on it. Which pretty much says a lot for them and the bus. He says a guy out of Texas wants to buy it and he would wan $35,000 for it, if he keeps it he will turn it into a RV setup. He still does about 20 dates a year opening foe Mo Bandy but uses their band so he doesn't  use the bus. But he faithfully drives it every 2 weeks just to keep it from sitting.

Cool
Moe & Joe did "Good Old Boys" back in the day that was one of my favorites.

Glad to hear they are still playing together sometimes.

You know how musicians are  ;D

I have to second that, Met Captain Ron and Joe yesterday.  It was a good day.    As I learn about the bus, its as much fun to learn about everyone else too.   I'm looking forward to seeing an upcoming Captain Ron show,  hope some others get to visit Nashville soon. Perhaps the sun will come back out.  This makes for a cold easter weekend.
