Jon and Missy Bain turned a retired 1998 International school bus into a warm and welcoming tiny home on wheels. After stripping it to the frame, they added spray-foam insulation, RV-style windows, custom cabinetry, and clever storage throughout. The couple built a bright, beachy interior using shiplap walls, handmade countertops, and thrift-store treasures that give the bus its unique charm.

Powered by 1,000 watts of solar power and equipped with a mini-split A/C, a full kitchen, and a comfortable rear bedroom, the Bain Bus is set up for simple, affordable full-time living. Today, the Bains enjoy life on their rural West Virginia property, appreciating the freedom and creativity their DIY bus conversion made possible.
