I have a 1999 12.7 60 Series without Jake Brakes.  What should it cost to get Jake Brakes added?  I am assuming this would not be a DIY job.

Which Jake Brake housings would I want?  There are so many options.  I am thinking probably 765 housings, but not really sure.

Only the specific model number can be used design for that engine run your serial and model number a DD dealer can tell you. The cams are different, and some have ceramic rollers don't chance that one ,some get away with different housing most are not that lucky and destroy a engine, shop when you find the correct model number for that engine that is why there are so many different models, Labor will cost you around $ 2 to $2500.00 it a good 8 hr job by the time you get finished take it to JD,if you buy new Pac Brake has better prices less than 1/2 the price of DD last set I bought from Pac Brake was under 4 grand 5 or 6 years ago shipping included ,I buy parts for the Jakes there too

I am guessing it would be a $6,000 plus job if I have JD do the job.  He will probably want to use all new parts.

I contacted Pacbrake.  They said they no longer sell any 60 Series engine brakes.  I am really hoping to have used Jake Brake housings installed to save money.  I really want to keep this between $3,000 and $4,000, but maybe I'm underestimating the cost to do this.

I talked to Fitzgerald Truck Parts.  They have a DDE 18112 kit that supposedly has all the new parts, except the harness, to add 765 Jakes to a 12.7.  They are selling them for $1895.  I gave Fitzgerald my serial number and they said it calls for 760/760a, but the also said 765 should work.  It seems slightly strange than a 1999 would use the 760/760a since the 760/760a is also shown as being for up to 1994 engines.  I am going to go over to the local Detroit dealer and see what they have to say.

The harness is another $350 for new, or $100 used.  I don't know that it is worth going with a used harness.

series 60's have been out of production for 15 years I guess Pac Brake could not see a market for those and just drop production ,they still sell you the tune up kits for the old 71/92  two strokes Jakes though

Go with a new hardness ,they give a lot of trouble with age

I took my serial number to the local Detroit dealer.  I couldn't see my engine model number on the sticker, but he said my engine model number is 6067MK28.

My engine model is supposed to use the 770 housing.  My research says it has to do with different camshafts.

I discovered that I had Jakes in my '02 12.7. They have never been used and when I tried to install a factory switch at the factory wiring in the dash, I ended up blowing fuses in my multi-plex units. I had the system checked professionally, and everything checked out as far as the computer was concerned, but no luck so far on getting them to work. I understand that they are pretty complicated as they're supposed to be tied to brake lights, ABS, transmission and a host of other systems.

Belfert's Jakes are not that complicated he doesn't have the chassis computers to deal with, he will need programing on B500 and toggled to activate on the DDEC,the B500 ECM controls the Jakes if it senses the engine RPM is above the set limit they will not activate ,took DD a few engines with rods through the blocks to figure that one out dropping down to 4th gear and over speeding the engine. I had mine reprogramed to engage in 6th gear engaging in 4th down I didn't care for that it was a big drop from 5th or 6th gear, some of the last 12.7 were like the 14.L the turbo was part of braking system using the Holset Turbo made by Cummins, another thing I found is the Jakes will not engage with the traction control engaged if you have it.The new tech is great till you have problems. My Lexus SUV when in the towing mode uses the transmission for extra braking, I wonder how long it will last till the transmission is in pieces on the highway

Interesting on the traction control.  I do have traction control.  There is a dash switch labeled traction control that I don't know what it does.  I was going over a very rough railroad crossing and the the traction control light came on briefly.
