Just over 50% of households have a Pig (Sink Garbage Disposal Grinder) in their house nowadays, but who has one in their bus?  These units are great for grinding up leftovers and flushing them down the drain and into your grey water tank.

I have a final pig aka macerator pump and never used it. Does that count?

I had one and removed it. We never use it and have not put food waste down the drain. Part of my off the cuff engineering says having 15lbs of disposal bouncing up and down while moving has got to create another strain somewhere.

Most tanks will trap the grounded up food particles and can be a bear to clean and stop the smell, I removed 2 in RV's I owned over the years

we trap and remove all waste from sink as we boondock. If connected to sewer, the stuff would at least flush through easier. Either way, not for us.

Only hooked to the end of the black tank exit to grind it up and send it out. A masadisposerator. :^

What are you referencing, the macerator Dave posted? What would be the reason ground up poo and paper is not good for septic?

We followed Dave's lead and use a masadisposerator (garbage disposal) for a macerator pump. Much cheaper & pumps much better, it will take the largest hardest logs & grind them up to little iddy biddy turds.

There is enough stuffed that goes into the gray tank. We have screens on our drain to keep food particle out of the system. But you do what you what. It will make it better to use a second time in your toilet. ;D

If there is enough food in the dish to need the sinkerator and it needs to stay out of the trash compactor it can go down the toilet. Not like it's a long trip. I don't see much sense in having a separate gray water tank and then turning it into a black water tank by putting food in it, and to plumb the kitchen sink into the black water tank doesn't make much sense either. It's on the wrong side of the bus and is the second biggest source of clear waste water.

I saw it on the Internet. It MUST be true...

Having a bit of non-processed "foodstuff" in your grey tank helps the biomass composting process for those of you who are interested in saving the earth.  Just sayin'.
