I am not sure what changed or why it changed.  Maybe Krash has an idea on this as I know of no recent changes?

Bottom Line: If BCM ever becomes profitable, we will gladly remove all ads from the Forum as I hate the popups as much as anyone.  The problem is, less than 5% of Forum readers are subscribers of the magazine which helps pay for the Forum.  If more users of the Forum would become Subscribers/Members, we would only need the side ads.  But the Forum ads income helps support the Forum and also the Magazine that we struggle to publish every month.

Why not move it to private Facebook page?

I will do that if you want.  We will lose 419,366 current posts and all of the millions of replys and over 20 years of history.  We will take a vote now. How many people want to shut down the Forum as Chessie suggested and start over with a new Facebook page?  If the majority of people want to do that, reply Yes, those oppose No.

I can do this as early as this weekend if everyone is interested.

That was a suggestion, not a request. Most people here from beginning dont trust Facebook.Yeah, they have there downside, just like Google and other browsers. There is a lot of, a mountian of, subject on it. Anything under the sun. I'm on both and wouldn't not have it otherwise You can view a lot of groups and subject forums without belonging to them. Yes you register to be on FB though. I view Utube when it is a benefit, but only occasionally. Mainly directions on repairing something I'm unfamiliar with.

This is the Hyder Glacier so much beauty in Alaska and Canada. A reason to stay off the phone

We agree Wayne. Hyder is awesome BTDT.
Our mention of the mobile was the tool that enabled us to buy the parcel in Tok AK thus why we keep returning.

I understand what Chessie is saying. I could never imagine this forum on Fakebook but we do enjoy chat rooms of our personal interest like the 4104 and vintage diesel mechanics, etc. In the winter time in Tok AK Fakebook can be a life line - I've never used it as such but to see how a fringe community holds together in severe conditions is admirable. You tube is better than the Encyclopedias of yesteryear. Yeah the ads are sometimes a PITA but the forum's valuable assetts override them IMHO. The main difference I see with this forum is the magazine and I'm not a subscriber so let the ads begin... :^

It's simple. Gary is right about this format being the only way.

And the ads are annoying.

This site is valuable enough to me to come up with a solution. If your bus was broken down on the side of the highway, Everyone would be chipping in with a solution.

So, what's the solution?

Gary made clear (by my understanding) the magazine pays for the site. My value is in the forum.

Some other content creators (I hate that term) have paid content. Perhaps Patreon members can get ad free access...

Lots of times when an ad pops up if you hit the back button and open the page you were going for again it will immediately reopen without the ad block. Just a way I adopted to get around an ad that may help someone else.

If the magazine is paying for the site, we're in big trouble. Print is dying, along with Bus Conversion enthusiasts. Many on bus conversions on FB page, bought a bus to convert, are selling right and left. Not allowed to park at residence, fuel prices, conversion costs, loss of interest, over their head, insurance, license, etc. Getting worse as economy heads downhill. Some nice shells for sale, and a lot of older conversions. Just see what the average age of members here. And majority are western US inhabitants. Other than Prevosts and s&s, rare to see a conversion out on the roads past few years.
It isn't any wonder why FMCA started allowing campers and travel trailers join.
