Planning trips for the summer are going to cost us more and it sucks IMO ,gasoline and diesel jumped almost 4 % at the gate today plus oil is over $80.00 a barrel today and going higher. I am going to fill up today and worry about the Biden's and Granhelm light bulb ban later. :o . over $5.00 a gal fuel is more on my mind

Tell me about it.  This is the year we plan to drive to Alaska.  Look on the bright side - truck fuel is still cheaper than boat fuel and the MPG on the road is a lot better too.

We're jealous. Wished we were going to AK this year. Just can't do it in consecutive years. Next year we hope to run Uhaul's largest truck up there filled with building material. Gotta hurry though because the clock is ticking approaching mid 70s.  :o

Maverick can sell that cheap grade of fuel in Utah, they cannot sell it in AZ ,gasoline prices are about the same as your Meverick for gasoline, Walmart here is cheaper than the Maverick for diesel .Maverick is building a new station in Bullhead that should open in a few months but I notice they just have the 1 grade of diesel at the pumps,I see along our route we were taking diesel has jumped from $3.69 to $4.09 at Maverick in the last 3 hours at Perry where I fill up before Idaho.I always fill at  Perry diesel is always $.50 a gallon cheaper than Idaho and the station has 3 grades of fuel

Loved our Alaska trip last summer. Nothing like it. Main point, don't  hurry. We spent 3 months on our trip. Used Atlas Obscura to locate a lot of stops in Canada and Alaska. We crossed into Canada below Winnepeg and via Yellowhead highway. Enjoyed lighter traffic. Lots of frost heaves in Ak. Some so bad, 15mph max for a few miles in some places. Long bad section from Chicken to Tok. Fantastic varied scenery from place to place.

Funny thing, all last summer. the only time we needed a heavy coat was on the whale watch. Otherwise, shirt sleeve or Hoodia. Mosquitos were a pita. Learned to use the good spray and were fine then. Many reports of biting flies, but saw none of them. Might be time of year. Also not a lot of rainy days. Maybe 15 to 20 out of 90. Nice to have lots of daylight. Bought two black tee shirts at Walmart and hung over bedroom windows for sleeping. Fine then.

Mosquitos are so bad in the Kenai Peninsulas and Cook Inlet, they can take a F-16 fighter out of the sky, summer may be ok but fall and spring with all the mud and slush sucks. Our daughter and boy friend are looking at a place in Anderson it is one of the 2 boroughs in Alaska with no property taxes.I told her you are late buying property in Anderson when I was there they were giving you property to move there

The unusually dry summer may have helped keep them in check. After getting used to spraying each other with Deet, they didn't  bother us much. And I hate mosquito spray. Never use it much at home in Pa.

We are planning to take all of our usual trips.   Diesel fuel is just the cost of doing business if you want to travel.  It could be better but fill it up and do a little driving.

Everybody has their own hobby and expenses.  Just skip a few rounds of golf.

There's no way around it if you want to go.I remember we got caught out in 2007 on a long trip, when we left fuel was $1.80 a gallon and cost about $250.00 for a fill up the last 3 fill up trying to come home were over a $1000.00 ea lol 1 was $1200.00 in New Mexico .We wanted to do around 10,000 miles this summer and visit friend's in Canada and some in the Dakota's I may need to up my budget from a $1.00 a mile to $2.00 ,LOL I am going skip the museums Jim Smith likes to do
