We stayed at a couple of winery's in CA, with boondockers, Nicky loved it...

Trouble with 48 hours notice is you don't know if you can stay till they respond. And it may be the whole 2 days till you hear. So do you find another site as a backup, or wait and cross your fingers.

Good information,  I have been thinking about joining H/H. I understand how their policies work and it works for me. We have an older coach and don't want to play 20 questions to camp at an RV Park.

After 11 years of ownership we finally have the coach road ready for longer trips.

I've found that many times you can just call the number on the listing and get an okay in less time. They are pushing everyone to use the app, but phone numbers are still listed. When we stayed at the auto museum in Springfield they hadn't responded on the app, so I called and got the okay. Minutes later the approval came through the app.

I'm sure that at busier locations it would work, but there are so many places in HH right now that they are not all busy.

We had a 40+ year old coach. Never once did any campground even question the age of the bus. If your bus looks well cared for I wouldn't expect problems unless you're trying to get into one of the ritzy class A resort type campgrounds.

My old '68 Fishbowl 40 foot GMC bus that we used as a motorhome for many years still had the original windows, orange painted wheels and discolored turquois paint. It looked like a major heap, especially with the typical RV entry door that we scabbed on (with original tan color), but we never had any problems with RV parks. However, they were mostly state-run parks. You're probably right about the ritzy ones though!

Not as bad as your previous situation. I have a 42 Y.O. Prevost which I casually name drop when I attempt to make a reservation as a Prevost. A few times that have asked for pictures first. My experience is that you are basically SOL if you have to leave a voice mail.

I never was asked or turned away even from the high end RV parks in my Eagle.LOL the Prevost crowd even liked the Eagle

Looks like Harvest Hosts are running a end of year special - $69.30/year.  Not sure how long that will last though.

Has anyone joined that or a similar program as a host?  We have some property and I've wondered about doing that.

We used it once or twice past two summers. Didn't  care for it. Don't  like feeling obligated. Feel like freeloaders. Rather pay for a campground and know what to expect. Didn't renew.

Haven't used it yet and paid the premium fee for both forms of merged access.

Given that I am getting a lot of email related to it that borders on SPAM.

Ok I do tend to be a bit grouchy and in my case of software firm I do reply to head hunters with "Go the F*** away!!!"  for random solicitations in my business email account.

Though I generally responds with "Thanks" and multiple blank lines of text before they get the message so they can't see it in a message preview and have to open it like I did to see if might be a real customer of mine.

The ones that really piss me off are the ones who do not have a unsubscribe link.. They just blasted it out to see if someone will bite to a piss @$# generic message. I.E. Someone dumb enough so desperate enough to randomly spend hard earned company money...

Ok time to tip another one...

we been members four 5 years now, don't go out of our way to find one but if it works in our trip plan we use it. Have not been disappointed yet. In fact we need to get back to the olive oil farm to buy more of their great flavored oils. A free night stay for product you are going to buy anyway, I don't see a problem.
