Hello everyone.  Newbie.  Am trying to reach member owner of shorty bus 4106-2481 "JohnMcClain615" but for whatever reason PM not working for me.  I have some info about that bus.  Also know of two unique 4106's available if anyone interested.  Regards to you all - Max "The Griffin"

I heard some were shortened or special ordered for Pikes Peak use.

I know of one that had a 5' section removed, then was riveted back together. They planned to pull a race car with it and it still sits 15 years later. They are willing to sell in NW Pa.

The 3 pictured are all 35' right?

Factory built 30 footers.

Just the few that were special ordered.

RJ, where you be?

Nope - GM never built any 4106s that were 30' long.

Nope, again. Only three, one from FL, two from TX. All cut down by a company in Los Angeles specifically for Pikes Peak Grey Line Tours.

I be right here, BW!

Max, BW, and others -

Gentlemen, I refer you to this thread to refresh your memories regarding the 30' "Shorty" 4106s:

I also note that the fellow Max has been searching for has only posted once on this forum as seen in the above linked thread, altho he did log on April 8th 2022. Perhaps he'll join us out here in the open?

I, too, would be interested in the info that Max has regarding these unique rigs.

FWIW & HTH. . . ;)

I saw one at FMCA convention several years ago. Either at Richman or Buffalo. Though I was imagining at first.

Hello everyone, Max "The Griffin".  In 2007 I flew to Florida and drove the green shorty to buy but Horizon Coach and I could not come to terms.
Regretted that decision ever since.  Bought and sold a 4104 later.  Still want a 4106 Shorty.  Please contact me directly if you know of one.  The other two I posted are not shortys.  The multicolored is for sale in Bend Or @ 541 815-9409.  Real nice guy.  I almost bought it myself but want a shorty or maybe buying the black & white one.  If anyone can put me in contact with the owner of the green shorty I would appreciate it.
Here's a 4104 I helped by brother in law buy years ago but he sold it.  Here's the best looking 4104 out there. 3rd one was my 4104.  I am also familiar with the older shorty thread mentioned.  It's how I found out about the green shorty.  Cheers.

More shorty pics.  The beat up one was for sale on Tampa Bay Craigslist a few years back but the seller posted the wrong contact info and I was unable to get a hold of him.

I thought the "regular" 4106 was the sports car of buses, I would imagine the 4106 "shorty" is a real sports car!!

I'm very intrigued by that last 4104 shown. You say it was yours before you sold it??
Do you happen to know where it might be now? Also it appears to be mostly painted in
what was the Embree Buses Inc. livery toward the end of their era. I'd like to know
anything you may still remember about it before you got it and if it was indeed an ex
Embree fleet unit. The original Embree paint scheme had that orange stripe (actually it
was 3M reflective tape) going all the way (360 degrees) around the bus. It looks like
whoever did the re-paint tweaked and added some highlights and removed a bit of the
orange stripe/tape but left a lot of the underlying paint scheme in place. That's what
caught my eye.

If that was indeed an ex Embree 4104, I'll bet you noticed the overall great mechanical
condition of the entire vehicle and engine/drive-line as you drove it. They were noted
for the extreme high level of maintenance they did on their fleet and all of them were
in tip top condition all the time.

I'm interested because I drove for them back in the day, and if your 4104 was an Embree
bus, I know I drove it while it was still in Charter service. If so and you know the Embree
fleet number I'd be interested in knowing what number it was. Also I'd be interested in
more pics or info you might have on it while you owned it. If you do just let me know and
I'll provide my direct contact info.

Many years ago I saw a 4104 painted like this one at Laughlin NV. converted at the time
but with the full original paint scheme. I think it was fleet unit number 500, but I may be
wrong. I never did manage to connect with the owner then but I never forgot that I'd seen it.

If yours wasn't an ex Embree 4104, then you can forgive my interest and chalk it up to a
mere coincidence of the paint scheme catching my eye, and as Rosanne Rosanna-danna
would say........Never Mind.  Thanks.

I have been talking to Max by PM. The 30' bus local to me was done by them selves to pull a race car. Never saw the road  (as far as I know) I was told remove one section and the rivet holes line right back up. So does not seem like to big a job, wiring a shift linkage.
