What is the really weird that a previous owner did to the bus and for some reason didn't correct?

In my case the toilet is hooked to the hot water line...

The PO of my bus cut a whole bunch of 24 volt wires and didn't seal them off or label them.  One day they started arcing.  I tried to sort them out and decided I had no use for that many wires so I capped them off and sealed them up tight when I could not find the source of them.

He also ran the genset remote start from the front of the bus to the back of the bus and down into the bay and back to the front bay on the drivers side where he had installed the genset.  I made that run MUCH shorter.

Most of the stuff he did made sense just a few quirks.

My poor 1980 Prevost buddy. If it is too hard to swap it for the cold water line, think out of the box Fred. Is there room for a bidet???

Possible reasons for using hot water line to flush toilet -
- To get hot water to bathroom faster for hand washing or showering.
- Water heater acts as a filter, so less chance for trash in line to cause problems.
- Simply got confused when installing the lines.

We installed a diy timed bypass so when turning on the hot shower water a button activates a solenoid that recycles hot water back into the potable tank for 15 seconds (we chose) so at the end of the 15 second cycle - wala! instant hot shower water without wasting any water while waiting for hot. As far as weird PO stuff how about GM producing positive grounded buses!

How about not putting the toilet in a bathroom?  Mine currently sits in a corner of the bedroom for some reason; privacy curtains soon, proper partitions down the road.

Sorry I had to tease you Fred, but it was too easy.
Here is my favorite. I'm thinking it was Prevost that did this and not the converter, but in keeping with your thread, the three previous owners did not fix it. I will. Especially after our last bus trip to COSTCO when on the way home (Rita driving) she asked "Now which switch is the Jake Brake?".  On my bus you turn the key to on. Wait for the the gages to respond. Then you push the toggle next to the key and the 6V92 comes to life. What was going through their empty head when they put the Jake Brake right next to the start switch!
Push Jake and bus slows down. Push start at 2200 RPM and......   Not sure but me thinketh not good.
I hope there is enough wire to move the jake switch over near the steering wheel.

In areas with poor water quality or high mineral content, toilets are often connected to hot water lines in spaces where hot water isn't used very much.  This helps keep the hot water heater "flushed" out which keeps the water fresh and prohibits foul smelling hot water.  Once that happens to a water heater it's very difficult to remove the sulfur smell.  This usually happens in offices, churches and places where hot water isn't used for things like bathing or washing dishes.   Perhaps the previous owner had experience with the issue.  It may have been a mistake also, the world may never know.

they make a special sacrificial anode for water heaters to deal with this. I've replaced them in two heaters over the years to deal with this.

We're running two water heaters in our bus - a 19gal. 120v electric & a 6 gal LP the they are both Mor-Flo units. The electric is 25 yo the LP is 39 yo and both are in excellent condition attributed to good maintenance over the years. Periodic draining & flushing and changing the sacrificial anodes when needed.
