Will the crankshaft from a 6.5 work in a 6.2,the 6.5 is from a bus that was run hot.The 6.2 was one of the goverments famous rebuilds that broke a crank while unloading and Iron Planet the seller will not make it good.I need to make one or the other work.I would ask on F/B but I don't need all the drama

check closely for cracks in heads between valves. They can be repaired, but not by any glue or welding. I'll  respond if you have them.

They have a few cracks around pre cups is about all, where can I find out about the crank,I know some have different rear seals. What I need is good manuals for both engines the crap manuals you buy from Auto Zone like the Chilton for the engines are a waste of money IMO

If you look on the side of head, don't  recall anymore, there is a approx 1/4 to 3/8 hole plug for each cylinder. behind each one is a short drilled water passage that terminates between valves. There is a kit that drills out thet bore slightly to accept a bronze sleeve. After drilling, you use a reamer to finish size the bore. Then you take this special sleeve, install on a stepped driver in kit and coat with Loctite. then drive sleeve into place. Install a new freeze plug and done. You can remove old plugs with a small hole drilled and use a screw and small slide hammer to remove them.

I've  done this on two of mine. A 6.5 to and a 6.2 with Banks turbo kit. Both did a fair amount of towing and were "performance enhanced". Never had and head gasket or bubbles in coolant leaks.

I don't know about the crankshafts, but when my 6.2 1985 c-30's speedometer broke the dealer replaced it with a calendar. ;D
