Hello all,

I've been wanting to get back to you all with an update, but we have been very busy on our shake out run with our "new to us" 1996 D3.

Well, I'm stuck at a fuel stop and can't get into gear.  It seems the fast idle is stuck on.

Any ideas on how to get this resolved?

Thanks a million.

Have you tried to play with the switch that controls the fast idle.  Disconnect the wires to it. Turn off cruise control as some engines use it to control eng ram for fast idle. Do you carry any diagnostic equipment? Codes?

Hi Bill, I did wiggle the wires on the fast idle switch.  His is a new to me bus, so I chose to open only one can if worms at a time so have not touched the cruise control.

I don't have any diagnostic equipment.

Any other ideas?

Here is everything happening.

Startup at about 1100 rpm, no matter what the fast idle switch is on.

Gas pedal is dead

If I depress the brake it seems that the park breaker won't disengage.  That's what it seems like to me.

When I push the D button, D shows in left screen but won't appear in the right screen.  Idle goes down when I push D  and goes back up when  I push N.

Does this give any clues.

Can the computer be reset if it is confused?

Thanks

Just try to turn the cruise OFF. Do the brake lights come on? If the stop light switch is bad might  be a reason it doesn't shut off. Diagnostic equipment is the only way to see what is wrong or any codes. Do you have a diagnostic switch on the dash. It should flash the CEL & SEL two flashes and then five more. That is 25 which means all good. If it flashes any other numbers it is a code which needs to be recorded.

The DL3 has 2 switches to control the fast idle, but your problem is the parking brake is not releasing or not getting the signal, it makes no difference if the switches are on or off if the DD-3 brakes release the fast idle will disengage and the baby will shift. In the panel under the drivers window there are 3 fuses toward the front check those 3 fuses I forget which one is for the fast idle they have little round black caps and are hard to see sometimes. If all else fails in the rear panel drivers side there is a fast idle relay you can remove and it is well marked once you remove the cover

good luck

Facebook fixed it.

Wheelchair door had been opened earlier in the trip.

Cycle the door, it went away.

Hey Clifford,
I know you (and a few others here) do FB groups. There are so many, which do you feel have good folks and good information? The main big ones have too much "noise" and hard to sift out the good info.

Frankly, for consistantly good information, and MODERATED, stick with BCM and BNO.

Facebook is so full of boldly stated ignorance, you can easily ruin your bus.

Natural selection is definitely in play, and it is painful seeing some folks so woefully inadequate in skills, knowledge and experience, egged on by the mob, and they buy a bus, and spend until they are destitute, which is very quick for many.

Or the same inadequate ones are offering advice to others...

I understand why the engineers drifted away from these Boards years ago... when you know what works and what doesn't, and the mob want to argue... it gets old fast.

I use the same handle on FB, with a space for first and last name:  buswar rior
Find me, and that gives you a selection of bus groups.

I seen you BW on the other side chiming in now and then. I feel like you do and don't pay much attention but there are folks there that know what's going on - you, RJ, Clifford, etc.

I'm pretty exclusive to BCM and BGM for busnut stuff and once in awhile drop in on the FB stuff but scan pretty quickly. I will say they are tops in posting what is for sale as a lot more eyes and ears see what is on the market.

You need to wade through the BS on F/B just like here it doesn't take long to find out who has all the beans in the cans but there is always a wise @$# then they fade in hurry after1 comment. To me F/B has less BS than You Tube and you don't need to watch for 30 mintues to figure it out

Thats why there is the slider at the bottom of the videos, so you can move it to what you want to see or know about. I have got a lot of good info off of youtube on all kinds of subjects. Sure just like here you have to weed out the junk and the know-it-alls.
I get some good info there BNO,BGM and BCM. They all seem to have there place. :^ IMHO
