Injectors

I would like to replace the injectors in my 71 8v71, they are presently Reliabilt N71C5, asking for info on a better replacement for increased power.

That is a crown injector they are a good injectors problem you have is the engine A or Std timed if A timed you could go to N70's for more fuel Std timing you could go with the 7G65 or 7G70's but they don't work worth a crap on A timed 8v71,if you take one out and give me the number on the injector I can tell you if they are low.meduim or high calibration.Me I would keep those the old DD 2 strokes when they have a few miles are like old people they don't like changes in their life

They make a timing fixture that measures DDC of the piston in refernce to the camshaft lift or you remove the bell housing and check the timing marks your injector can be used with both '

Ok, if I can free up the stuck injectors I'll take your advice on keeping them or replace with the same if I can't get the stuck ones to free up.

Pull the injectors and send those to (Don) Quality Fuel Injection in Oakdale CA (209)863-8810 tell him to set those on high calibration and tell where you want the best performance at what rpm.Don is old school he can do almost anything you want with the old injectors and he doesn't break the bank it's like a hobby to him now if, you go that route tell him I said build you a good set

I did mean TDC, you are timing the injector it has nothing to do with the calibration, like a 1.500 gauge is more advanced timing than 1.460 gauge timing does not change the amount of fuel delivered it only changes the beginning of the injection cycle,it is not a big deal anyone can do it,the rack and governor setting can be tricky

I have been educating myself on you tube videos to tune the 8V71,  also given the name of an local 81 yr. Old local who works on two strokes, I won't go into the governor area without more knowledge. 🙏

a little off topic but saw the fuel crossover tubes for $7 something for the old style and $63 something for the new style. Is that right? WOW

Yes it is then a $1.00 ea for the o-rings $32.00 for o-rings

thats crazy. I'll  stay with new old style. Billions of miles and they worked fine. Proper torquing and not reusing should be ok.

Lol you buy the fuel stands and fitting for the injectors to use those lines, it get way up there in a hurry
