Dan if you mean 4Low? I would make sure it had the 242 Transfer case because mine is the 231 which should only be used on slippery surfaces or it will wheel hop on dry because it is what is called part time 4x4 gearing. The 242 is full time which we didn't want because it eat fuel faster working all the time even when not engaged.

Dan never mind you meant the 4.0L 6 cylinder to tow. I wouldn't because the engine unless new or rebuilt would probably overheat. It will tow but only light stuff.

I had a 88 Jeep pickup with the 4.0 was the best pickup I ever n owned the only problem was the transmission was a Peugeot 5 speed manual that gave problems and cost like crazy when Jeep worked on it and the clutch slave cylinder was inside the bell housing and to replace it was costly.I loved that pickup lol 2 teenage grandsons could never kill it

10-4 on the different transfer cases. I was referring to the 4 liter engine for towing a boat or trailer.

We tow our 1988.5 Suzuki Samurai.  It is the only vehicle we could find that was as slow as our old bus.  It tips the scales at 2100 Lbs, and takes 1MPH off of our Silversides blazing top speed.  And you can run the trails at just about any off road park, because it is smaller than many ATVs.  Patrick

Bus does not even know it's there, no difference in acceleration or braking, no noticeable difference in MPG.

Word to the wise, if towing behind a 2 stroke, there are better color choices than white.

Also make sure the steering is left in the unlocked position unless you like buying new front tires.

We should also mention that a four down toad is an emergency back up to either moving the bus to a safe(r) location or assist in getting it into a not so good idea area. Ask me how I. know... :o

I used to flat tow the Sammy. I think you can set it up for lockout rear hubs too, not sure what it costs to do it. Made the mistake once of leaving it in gear and still don't understand why it didn't blow up the engine, although the cam pulley failed quite awhile later. I started putting it on the trailer and liked that better. I use it now like a golf cart around the property, very handy for that. Has a lot of rust. Maybe some day I'll tow it to Mexico and trade it for a newer one.

I saw it on the Internet. It MUST be true...

I use to tow a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee until I wrote it off in April, I tried to find another jeep I found a 2006 jeep with a Mercedes motor but it was sold before I could even see it. Then we found a Buick 2013 Buick Enclave , bought  it put a blue ox base  plate  . Tows fine is as heavy as the jeep.

I found a 2012 Grand Cherokee 4x4 with 38,000 total miles garage kept with a 2.8 Turbo Eco Diesel I am trying to buy,you can order the 2022 4x4 Grand Cherokee with a 3.0 turbo Eco diesel for 70 + to 98  grand  lol not happening here for a toed

The Jeep Trail Hawk is a nice plush ride for around 50k,the Track Hawk for 90k is overpriced IMO  who needs a 700 hp engine in a Jeep

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee experiences a faulty fuel system and is stated on consumer reports as the worst issue with this model generation. The fuel pump relay goes bad, and no fuel will enter the engine. This problem comes with an enormous repair cost and can be challenging for some users.Nov 30, 2020

Does that include the 2.8 diesel, not many Cherokees came with the 2.8, they don't seem to have problems in the Liberty or Dodge pickups,I am a little concerned about the VM diesel I owned one before in a road boring machine

Who needs 700HP in a Jeep?  Come on Luvrbus.  Who doesn't? And it's 707 HP. I still smile every time I drive my Trackhawk. I get my groceries home faster than the Jones fella does.  BTW, FOR $100K, you get a single speed transfer case that cannot be flat towed.  Doesn't matter to me, because it's too heavy for my silversides to tow anyway.  Patrick
