I found this rusted area in my spare tire compartment while lubricating some things. * see photo

This is what is attached from the other side. What is it? And is this an issue. It's pretty bad by my estimation.

Not sure how to proceed. I have a welder coming to look at some other things. Perhaps this will be added to his list.

Not sure why the photos are randomly upside down

top picture :: a bay outside post? looks like a patch on it before. usually caused by salt in winter/and moisture collecting... 2nd I'm not a mci guy! Have heard of some having to rebuild air bag support on rear axles(top)   sorry hope some mci guys chime in.. there is a mci web site...    Bob

Since it looks to be tied into your front subframe at least somewhat I'd suggest it might be a good time to replace the rust with fresh steel. Probably not critical but your bus is too nice not to fix it.

I saw it on the Internet. It MUST be true...

The second picture shows   a bar that keeps the front axle assembly in its proper place under the bus.  You definitely don't want that coming apart!

1st pic is the back bottom support for the tire compartment and have your guy cut out the bad crap and repair it than lots of paint to stop it from happening again  . I don't think the support is for anything structural other than the spare tire compartment

The circled part looks like it might be separating, but I can't be certain from the picture.  I agree with everyone else about the rusty panel in the spare tire compartment.

looking close that looks like a repair. definitely 2 different people welding styles. think you need a bottle of crack detector.

I really appreciate the additional input.

I know the world's best welder. So I'm sure he can make it right.

I hope he's not the world's most expensive welder...

What is it?

Clear 1/4" rubber tubing coming from the engine compartment.

This was originally tied into the sink drain.
