Thanks, I feel so much better now.

I didn't know the goal here was to make everyone feel better. Somehow I thought a bit of an historical perspective would help - guess not.

Fuel has always been subsidized since the 50's or we would be paying 8 bucks a gal now,Oil is traded in American dollars when our dollar is worth less the higher the price becomes so life goes on,My granddad became a wealthy man selling oil for $2.50 a barrel

I just paid $900 and change for a replacement timing actuator for the fuel pump for the Cummins ISX. It is really just a solenoid valve, about 2" cube. Makes the price of fuel seem trivial to keep the thing running...

Cummins told me the turbo needs to  be changed at no more than 150,000 miles wait till you price it from Cummins, I bought a WAX valve for the fan just to have in case mine ever failed that gizmo was $700.00

Not sure if you're joking or not.

It's true that the dollar & cents we pay for fuel is more than we paid in the past, but so are our salaries/wages. Adjusting things out to compare buying power then vs. buying power now we used more of our buying power in the past to buy fuel than now.
Interesting enough to divert for a couple clicks in the Internet. So many sources but here is one from US Govt. https://www.energy.gov/eere/vehicles/fact-915-march-7-2016-average-historical-annual-gasoline-pump-price-1929-2015

Seems to say inflation adjusted, gas costs about the same. What is not reported is what percentage fule was of average consumer budget. I'd venture to say a fair number of consumers in 1929 had a zero in the fuel budget, same as cell bill, same for cable, etc.  LOL

Interesting question - how much the average consumer spends as a percentage of overall family budget. Lots of things we pay for now which were not in the budget back then, and it's pretty easy to see how we've nickled and timed ourselves with all these things to the point where our money doesn't seem to go as far as it used to even though we may have more of it.

We've been on a mission to reduce some of the parasitic drain on the budget, but it's not easy.

I know the people that are still working keep up with inflation.

But us old retired people have i hard time trying to keep up.

The main reason you see old retired people being greeters at Walmart and doing jobs that used to be high school kids.

Social security is now just about a joke. and saving account interest is a bigger joke.

If you were not smart in your working years and hide money from your favorite uncle it
would be tough to even eat.

Much less to own a money pit bus.

.09% raise this year.

Thanks for good ole NC spring water.

Ned the world is crazy, we have several accounts with Chase bank ,when traveling this year I ordered some check for the travel account I got a bill for 20 bucks, then I got a $12 charge for service because the account fell below 5K on the 1st of the month.Took me a couple of minutes to recoup that $32.00 it really pissed me off laws that allow credit card and banks to change a agreement one has had for 20 years

Here's another reason Fuel costs are gonna go through the roof. Yestarday out of the Outhouse with the Clowns running the chit show,,,

"The White House said Thursday they will not act immediately to alleviate high gas prices in the United States, citing the need to shift consumption to green energy."

You can run that Vehicle on Wind and Solar Energy.

I doubt it when they increase payments on S/S they raise the premium on Medicare to offset the increase
