A while back, there was a post on finding a cheap remote switch for the inexpensive inverters.

I told Captain Ron I had the schematics for the Sima inverter remote, but I can't seem to find it.

Yesterday I was at our local truckstop (Petro) and found the needed switch on the accesories wall.

It's built for the Coleman series, but should work with any of the others, even if you have to mess with the pins on the connector.

It was $24.95 and made, I believe, by Barjan.

I hope this Helps!

Whats wrong with just putting a power relay in series with the power lead to the inverter?? I bought a relay for a golf car to turn mine on. Was less than $15 .

Ummm,
Probably because inverters have electronics and processors in them that don't like to be starved for electricity?

Kind of like pulling the plug on your computer over and over.... it works good for a while, but eventually errors build up and and you'll come up with a BSOD.

Ummm. what is the difference between removing the power with a control relay than with shutting the genset off or disconnecting the shore cord, Ummmm?

I've never seen any warning in the data that suggests that applying power with the switch onis harmful at all. I used mine all the time and no problems.   Jerry

Darned if I know, but the instructions with my inverter tell me not to shut it down by removing the DC power to it, but only by using the shutoff switch and remote, and since I dn't want to buy another one soon, I'll follow the instructions in order to keep all of the smoke inside.

Also we were talking about removing DC not AC.

DrivingMissLazy

OK, you got me. I was talking about removing the AC power.
