Dish roter

Hello to all:

I'm within two months of launching Big Blue and need to add a dish and roter.
I want the passengers to be able to watch TV as the bus is moving and internet capable.
Marine strength and plug and play connections.
I have an Xfinity service at home and have not asked for RV options yet from them.
What is the best dish and roter to get? any suggestions.

I am waiting for SpaceX to release there StarLink network for that functionality. I plan to be the first inline for this.

As far as I know there is no mobile satellite internet solution available at this time.

They do make a few solutions for aircraft; but the entry fee for that is $30,000 plus and a hefty monthly fee.

There is a couple DirectTV and Dish solutions that will work while mobile, but hey I am cord cutter so have not researched them.

For now you are stuck with cellular data solutions. I picked up a router and subscription from otrmobile, but haven't used it enough to give any feedback.

I would check rv forums and boat forums for user experiences and models that work well for them. Will take some reading, but a couple of models should come out on top. Also a use a receiver that can record and playback sufficient amount of programming for areas with interrupted signal. Some setups allow you to use your home receiver if you have a system already.

Yes that is cellular based, not satellite based which was the original request.

There are a number of routers out there for the commuter bus solution that can bond multiple cellular modems and or carriers together to bring up the data rate.

We too are cord cutters and use our phones for internet, TV mirroring, and use a Tablo Quad DVR and down load all our TV shows and movies to take with us. We can connect to it from Phone, TV or computers. We have a Playmate Dish on roof of Bus but for 30.00 a month when on the road we get very little so a year ago we just put it in off mode and they don't charge us until we call them to go on the road if we want to use it. If you have an account with Dish at home it is only about 8.00 a month for the bus satellite extra. We don't see the need to use it anymore.
Hughes satellite used to have a traveling system for about 6,000.00 plus a monthly fee but I don't think they do that anymore.
When in an RV park or semi close to cities we just use our antenna and pickup about 6o channels.

That's perfectly viable approach until StarLink becomes available. However, since it goes to geosynchronous orbit and back it has lots of latency.

My understanding and that it can be difficult to setup and over time keep your hardware in sync with their requirements.

It is amazing how much money cable and satellite companies charge to watch a few new movies, a few old movies, old tv shows and setup and monthly fees up the wazoo.
We pay nothing for any of that. you know if you hook up your computer to your smart TV by HDMI cable you can get all the channels you want on "USTVGO.com, Pluto TV is another one, if you already pay for Amazon Prime you can get lots of movies there also plus free shipping, LOL.

Yeah, if you have signal and unlimited data. What you need is, is a mega TIVO or video recorder and record about a gazillion movies to watch out on the road. You can get some news and network programming with Sirius XM radio. But, that's  more money. They used to offer lifetime programming for about $500, but they don't offer it at the present.

We have Hughes Net in Scottsdale but no in motion satellite dish is a available for Hughes Net or any mobile dish I know of

We have T-Mobil unlimited data, text and voice. And then The TABLO DVR so yep we take a lot of shows on it with us.

We used to have dish on the home front & a 2nd dish satellite receiver for the bus for a measly $5/mo extra only when used. We actually don't do much "sit down in front of screen" anymore - fills the mind but leaves the body behind...lol.

I'm sure Sonja would appreciate the movies. Just be sure to get the Hallmark channel for her. It is the womens NFL and NBA channel!😉
