My father has a 1977 mci bus 8v71 and somehow the bus was shut off with it in reverse. It now wont start since it needs to be in neutral. Any ideas on how to get it in neutral? Thanks for any help

Auto or manual? If manual, is there a neutral override start switch?

If that is a Stone.Bennet shifter just pull the lever on the transmission down 1 click by hand

It is a selector type switch. Is air needed to change the selector from reverse to drive?

luvrbus

Ok a toggle to shift or a shift tower like in autos if it has a toggle then it is a Stone Bennet

So how do I get it to neutral? Needs air to change correct?

luvrbus

No you can shift it to neutral by hand or even a broom handle on the side of the transmission or find the air fill at the rear and hook a compressor to that and shift it to neutral
