My GM PD4106 has left and right wheel nuts/studs with studs on the drivers side marked "L" and "R" on passenger side.
I just got a 60:1 torque multiplier so don't want to find out the hard way I'm rotating the nuts wrong.

So presumably the nuts marked "R" come off in the normal fashion (counterclockwise to remove) and the ones marked "L" come off in a clockwise fashion.

Am I correct in this assumption?

Thanks

You are correct, the result is you crank the handle in the direction you want the nut to go remembering the right or left thread location.

Fred, I just bought a 60:1 multiplier and I am happy(?) with it--still takes a bunch of effort though.  I finally found a tire shop with a big enough torque wrench to set the lug nuts on my little bus to the required 325 ft lbs.  Before I removed the nuts I marked their position and rotational number with a grease pencil and then removed them all.  When I replaced them (usual cross tightening etc) and brought the marks into alignment and returned to the tire shop I was pleased to find that the multiplier actually got me to within a few ft#'s of where I started.  I also discovered that the inner lug nuts (duallies) on a couple of studs loosened up along with the outer nut.  I'll watch that very carefully as it could be a recipe for disaster.

Hi guys, on my previous trip, to Utah, my wheel indicators showed one out of alignment with the other 9 indicators, I stopped at a shop in Flagstaff and it wasn't a loose nut, but a stripped stud. As JC and Clifford has said many times, keeping an eye on your wheel nuts is most important. lvmci...
