This may be of interest to anyone like me that plans on keeping some of the original MCI windows and would like to open them on occasion.

I have been using pieces of 2x4 throughout the conversion process, as we get closer to the being able to use the bus, the wife said, you need a better solution than those 2x4's.

For proof of concept I cut an aluminum bar ΒΌ inch thick 2 inches wide and 24 inches long,

I drilled a 3/8-inch hole 1 inch from the end then rounded the corners then drilled another 3/8-inch hole in the middle of the latch bar.

When bolting the bars together I cut a piece of Pex tubing that I put between the bars and tightened the 3/8 bolt enough that the friction on the Pex holds it in place when you swing the bar to the open or closed position.

Works quite good.

Now I need to install 9 more.

What does everyone else use?

Do most in here think that it's better to not even open windows b/c of the potential on ruining the seals?

I don't open my windows because Im in west Texas and I feel the dirt and sand is better enjoyed outside and not inside my home.  But I can not speak for everyone else.

I have 3 AC Units in my 35' MCI. Even with the door open for Fred to come and go as he needs it stays plenty livable.

We have only 2 windows that slide open. The rest are fixed sash windows. All are OEM and equipped with the tilt-out feature so they can be used as emergency exits. The nights around here are quite comfortable for sleeping most of the year, so I'd love to open them all. However, they are all currently in a 'not leaking' status and I'm afraid to do anything that might change that. So, I made screens for the two that open and leave the rest as they are.

I kept 3 windows opening on my Prevost, in the fall weather we like the cool air. Because Prevost has a large aluminum bar across the bottom that snaps the window shut tight when close we just us a 12" piece on maple wood flooring the works great. Your idea is great.

I would rather open the windows and use a small quiet fan to move the air then use the a/c ( feels like dead air after a while )
but some times it is just to hot and humid
