Need shop recommendation

Went to a shop in kingman and they gave me an estimate for over 5200 to r&r a front plate to fix an oil leak on a series 60. Seems way steep to me. Not sure if its a job i want to tackle myself as i dont have a torque wrench big enough for the crank pulley and i know all the gear train has to come off as well. Any suggestions for a good yet reasonable  mechanic shop in the las vegas (NV) area? I have used Chino in the past but he is strictly mobile and im about 100 miles from vegas.

Call Gary Bennett at B&B coachworks 702 873 4415.  He does not do big engine jobs anymore but had a shop in Vegas for 30 years and knows a good mechanic in that town, but I forgot who it is now.

Maybe a little high but not out of sight,call Andy at A&A in Mohave Valley or Gilbert at G&G ? in Las Vegas. If I was home I would help you but I have 4 -8v92's looking at me in Texas lol only 3 to go

Andy is going to come by tomorrow and look at it. He is hesitant to believe that the plate is leaking and after a closer look I am inclined to agree with him. Looks like there is a good chance that the oil is coming from the water pump gasket, air compressor gasket, and the pan gasket. We will see if he concurs tomorrow.

Well andy did come by and we determined the best course of action was to go ahead and do the pan gasket which was leaking, and the water pump  oring and see what the rest looked like while the pump was out of the way. Andy was too busy to squeeze me in before I had to leave town this weekend so i went ahead and did it myself. Seem to have taken care of the oil leaks but now another much greater issue.

While Andy was looking it over he mentioned that it looked like the head was moving around. Sure enough when i fired it up this morning to get ready to hit the road, it looked wet right where Andy said he thought it was moving around. I checked and it is coolant, not just water left over from a washing and cleaning. On fast idle i can see little tiny streams of coolant shooting out between the head and the gasket on number 1. No coolant in the oil so thats good i guess, but still looking at a major job. Shucks anyway.

DD had a upgrade on the head bolts for the 11.1 series 60 could be the PO wasn't concerned enough to have it done,hoping you don't lose a stud in the middle of no where NV

I don't think this is something that just started, i think it's been seeping for a while. I noticed moisture in the same area in the past but dismissed it as possible moisture left over from cleaning in the area. Wondering if I should risk driving it the 50 miles to the shop or if i should err on the side of caution and just call for a tow. If it decided to let loose on the way there i would then be looking at a full rebuild instead of just a head job. Clifford why'd you have to run off to texas? Can you head home now please? Lol.

What does that mean? Liner sink into the block?

the movement of everything hammers the liner...head hits it down, piston moves it up...back and forth like a jack hammer...

That's a good explanation Donald then you machine the counter bore and install a bushing to save the block pretty common on 11.1 and 12.7 Detroit's with high mileage
