This coach has been on the market for quite some time, not years but awhile.

It was built as new motorhome by Hawkins. What's the opinion of their product? Only found reference in list of defunct builders.  Not necessarily a bad thing unless some parts are sole source and hard to replace.

It doesn't do anything for me.  The paint sucks and the interior is basic blah.  I like my RTS better.  But then I'm not Prevost Proud.

A lot of them did bus conversions or part there of and SS also for renovations after they got tired of them.
Got to agree with Geoff.
Interesting read though. He didn't like s-60 but he had a 8V-92 he thought was better. He said it had about 160,000miles on a 30 year old coach but it never sat that much always moving. That comes out to avg. 5,300 miles a year Aprox. Maybe he drove really slow but that is not much miles for it not sitting in 30 years.
I always like the tires have good tread and are not dated out, yet he doesn't put the date codes on there. ;D
The Genny has quite a few hours on it and is coming up on major tune up and adjustment period.

The paint job is probably the problem for a lot of people, otherwise (at the right price) it might be a good coach. I really like the extensive custom wrapping of the manifolds and exhaust on both engines. It does not matter greatly who did the conversion, money was poured into it. The current condition is what counts.

The "current condition" is what scares me.  Fridge does not work, factory A/C doesn't work, roof A/C's (does that tell you that the factory A/C has been dead for a long time??) don't work, "needs some body work" (and a $15,000 paint job before I'd drive it), generator is in really great shape except that it doesn't work -- yeah, "current condition" scares me.
OTOH, the interior looks good (ordinary but good) and solid.  More room given to sleeping space than I'd want; with just me and "The Management", any other bunks would be an invitation for other people to fill them up -- no thank you.
Nice coach for $32,000 (I'd probably offer $29,000 if it were listed at $32K).  But I'd have a lot of reasons to pass on this one.

I would think that 9g85 injectors wouldn't give 450 hp. 400? Since it is a mechanical engine, fewer electronic issues.R12 refrigerant? The cabinetry has a yellow tinge, but I assume it is because of the camera used, or phone. I'd consider it, but outside color sucks, at least to me. But that has surely affected how much money they can get for it.Tire age and other listed issues would be negotating points. Be worth the trip to check out. Course I like Prevosts.
BTW, I know the polished section is ss, but what material does Prevost use for the rest of the skin and body structures.

No, that tells me the original owners wanted the interior of the bus to be cool in the summer when they were not running the engine. ;)

It seems unless an old coach was built by one of the top tier builders like Custom Coach or Marathon then one just has to assess it is as it is now and not attribute much, if any, value to the builder. For that matter, I'm certain some homebuilts are built as well or even better than some of the professional builders. The lesson is Condition, condition, condition matters most and maybe a couple points for pedigree.

9G85's would be 474 HP in an 8V92TA, 500 with 9G90's.

This has been advertised on rvt for some time.Lets face it ,you are already looking at 35,000 in repairs (conservative). If I figure right that is already 67 grand .Sounds like the one I bought .With a little arm twisting and just a little more money ,I would probably let mine go 94 ,new bus air,new airbags ,three new rt's with heat strips ,all door struts replaced ,Any way ,you get my picture ! Are you sure you want to get into this??

Hey Geoff, mine has the decal on the valve cover that says 9G85 and is rated at 445HP FWIW
Will
And if someone offered me 67 grand for my marathon conversion, the wife wouldn't be able to move out fast enough. Just saying  ;D

luvrbus

It all depends on the calibration on 9G85 on what HP you can get from the 8v92

Turbo size and boost would make a significant difference between models. My 92 series manuals are from 1982 and doesn't list g series injectors.

Yes, I was basing 474 HP for 9G85's with an A/R turbo of 100 or so.  Prevost usually upgraded the motor home shells for the highest power.  The OTR buses had lower power, so if 440hp is the rated power, it can be upgraded.
